My daughter, while cleaning my grandmother's attic last year, found a notebook with old notes. In it, I found a lot of interesting things for myself, and last year I used these useful tips.

Plants have responded well to feeding according to old recipes for plant care. So, I think, probably, the love for plants was passed on to me from my grandmother.

I remember that in my childhood she planted apple trees, was engaged in the cultivation of vegetables and flower crops. Some of the grandma's recommendations can be read below.

  • Under the seedlings (in each hole) of cabbage, it is necessary to put in the ground one peeled (so as not to sprout) potatoes, which, rotting, will give food to the plants.
  • Potato peelings can be buried under the bushes of black and red currants, they contain starch, which this culture likes.

  • To prepare a nutrient mixture (green fertilizer) for garden crops, you need a little stale bread, sour milk or kefir, jam, young weeds and herbs (nettles, dandelions, wood lice). The grass itself will need one fourth of the barrel.

All ingredients are fermented in the sun in a barrel of water for a week, which is closed with a lid. The resulting mixture is diluted in a ratio of 1 to 10. For example, you need to dilute 1 liter of fermented solution for 10 liters of water.

  • The banana peel does not need to be thrown into the trash (and in winter you can dry it), but immediately buried in the ground under the plants. She gives food to vegetables. It contains a lot of nitrogen and calcium.
  • Waste from peeled fish can be put under tomato seedlings. When decomposing, they will be a source of phosphorus and calcium for plants, which activates root growth and has a beneficial effect on fruiting.
  • Eggshells are considered to be an excellent source of calcium, potassium and phosphorus. It is used in powder or crushed form.
  • Ash contains many nutrients, including potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, in addition to nitrogen.
When planting tomatoes and peppers, it is enough to put 1-2 tablespoons of this natural mineral fertilizer in the hole.
