But in order for the apple harvest to delight you every year, do not forget about the fertilizers that trees still need. Both young and old trees should be fed.

But apple trees do not need to be fed every year: it is enough to apply fertilizers once every five years. This is enough for the fruits to grow large and healthy. But how to feed the apple trees in the spring so that the harvest is abundant?

When and how is the best time to fertilize?

You can fertilize trees in early spring after the snow melts. At this time, there is still very little work in the garden or in the vegetable garden, so it is not at all difficult to feed the apple trees.

The fertilization process is simple: a groove or individual holes are dug around the tree, deep into the bayonet of a shovel. This should be done carefully so as not to damage the roots.

You need to be especially careful with young trees. Fertilizers are introduced into the dug depressions and buried in earth.

I usually use superphosphate and potassium sulfate for feeding. For one tree, half a kilogram of each fertilizer will be enough. I also add wood ash under the trees.

Top dressing is best done before rainfall. But, if the year is dry, then after the application of fertilizers, water the trees abundantly. The amount of moisture also determines whether the apple harvest will be plentiful.
