Buying a block container: personal experience; the problems I faced

How it all started

When we bought the site, it already had a pile-screw foundation. For this reason, it was immediately decided to put a 150x150 timber on them, and a change house on top, so that in the future it was possible to make an extension or a veranda. Then I didn't know what I would have in the final version. And I also had to add reinforced concrete blocks, dig holes, fill them with sand, tamp them and put them under the level of the piles.

Buying a container

All winter I was looking for companies that make custom-made block containers. I wanted the change house to have a panoramic window, 50 mm insulation, 50x50 window for the gas stove hood. From the catalog I chose the color "shade of beige".

There were a lot of companies manufacturing cabins, but I chose those companies that responded. As a result, I sent the terms of reference and they sent me commercial offers in response. I chose the cheapest option - I fell for a beautiful picture from the site. Later, I very much regretted this decision.

As a result, the change house was brought to me on time and installed with a manipulator. The cost came out to 125,000 rubles. including delivery. This is the 2018 price. Initially, I ordered brown squares, but after acceptance it turned out that they were blue and in the end they threw off another 5 tons.

Difficulties encountered

After a month of living in the shed, it turned out that the cracks between the windows were poorly foamed and the outer wall was not covered with foil. Because of this, there was always a swarm of flies in the room - it looked like a horror movie.

The guarantee for the block-container was a year, but there was no contract, so the guys simply disappeared after this time and all their promises flew away without a trace. In the end, I had to do everything myself: fill up the cracks; paint over the profile.

Electricity and water

A year before that, I applied for connections to Lenenergo networks. It costs only 500 rubles. (under the state program), plus 10 thousand. rubles for the dashboard, which I collected myself, as the profession allows. According to the program, if your distance from the site to the nearest power transmission line outside the city is less than 500 meters, the connection will cost only 550 rubles.

Final story

We lived a whole season without electricity by candlelight, but we had a gas cylinder and could cook hot food. There was no refrigerator, and we put all the food under the car. Sometimes magpies stole our food, they loved chicken very much. We even had a hedgehog and lived for a whole week under the carriage, feeding on gifts from us.

We also had problems with water supply - there is no water supply. Each time we had to bring two 20-liter cans of water and a lot of 5-liter bottles. But nothing - we were not sad, we survived this moment and move on.

Plans for the near future

The next year, 2019, there were grandiose plans to build a veranda. Initially, I wanted to make an open veranda from a frame with a pitched roof, I began to make drawings in the Scetch Upp program, and I realized that if you sheathe the OSB veranda and insert windows, then it will not be much expensive.
