My way of planting Peas in the country to get a Gorgeous harvest

Peas are one of the best vegetables in the world, I think! Sugar and peeling varieties occupy every free piece of land in my country garden, because, naturally, I want to grow and other crops - strawberries, cucumbers, tomatoes, and so on... But even with small areas, every year I collect excellent peas harvest!

And it's not about chemical fertilizers or the rules of care, when you need to "bow" to the summer cottage for days on end. I just know how to plant peas correctly.

Exact time

Being one of the most cold-resistant crops (it does not suffer from frosts down to -6 ° C), peas can go to the open ground, as soon as the snow melts and the earth dries up, it will warm up to + 5 ° С for depth 5 cm. In the South, it may be the end of March, in the Central Lane and Siberia - from mid-April to early May.

Site selection and preparation

Peas feel best on sandy loam and loamy soils. Due to early planting, it is inconvenient to apply fertilizers in the spring, so I dig up places under the beds in the fall, applying superphosphate and any potash fertilizers.

And never make a mistake - do not apply manure under the peas, from this only the bushes grow, and the harvest is canceled!

Wherever peas are sown, the place should be open to the sun - even the slightest shading reduces yields.

The predecessors for peas can be any crops, with the exception of legumes (to which it belongs).

The choice of planting material

Pea seeds remain viable for up to 5-6 years, but still - you need to check the quality. To do this, I soak them for 2 days in water, then wrap them in gauze and wait.

If 8 out of 10 seeds hatch, then growing this batch will be of use. For each square. m. planting takes about 80-110 seeds.

Planting process

On the plot of the garden set aside for peas, you need to thoroughly loosen the ground, breaking large clods and making furrows with a rake.

Peas grow violently and densely, so much so that it is almost impossible to even weed among them! In order for the plants to have enough space for development, the distance between the planting grooves should be 50-60 cm.

I lower the seeds to a depth of 3-5 cm with a step of 5-10 cm between them, then lightly sprinkle it with earth and slap it, compacting. Then I water it.

It is not necessary to soak pea seeds before planting, but watering immediately after it is required! And then all that remains is to wait for the shoots and provide the vegetable with the basic rules of care.
