Simple and budget concrete cellars and caissons for the well
Many people need a cellar to store stocks of pickles, preserves, etc. stocks for the winter. Others need a similar structure as a caisson for a well. As a serviceable unit for possible replacement of a pump or piece of equipment. Sometimes the cellar is combined with a caisson.
One of the simplest and fastest constructions to install is a cellar or a caisson made of type-setting concrete elements. The bottom, the elements themselves and the lid are mounted, like the round rings of septic tanks, in a couple of hours by the same technique that delivers everything. Some manufacturers cast cellars from only two elements. The result is a fairly sealed and durable structure. And surprisingly inexpensive:
The cost of such a cellar or caisson for a well in Krasnoyarsk. The cost is even lower than a set of concrete rings for a septic tank.
Installation of a similar cellar. A similar monolithic cellar costs over $ 100,000. rub.
In the summer, the elements need to be combined with a solution. In winter - you can use bituminous waterproofing, or dilute the solution with an anti-freeze additive. In order to prevent melt and groundwater from penetrating into the cellar, the outside of the cellar must be waterproofed. The surface is covered with a bituminous primer and waterproofing is glued. Now there are materials that do not need to be welded with a torch.
But there is one drawback to this design - it is an inconvenient descent into the cellar. There is only one option - a steep staircase. It will already be difficult for the elderly to go down to the cellar. Therefore, they make cellars with a smoother descent (or even entrance):
The cellar can be laid out from the PShchS blocks. Their cost - from 25 rubles / piece. It will also turn out to be an inexpensive option, and allows you to make a comfortable descent. But even here, outside the walls, good waterproofing is needed, as well as reliable monolithic floors. It is clear that building a cellar in this version is more difficult and takes longer.
The descent into the cellar might look like this. The tambour is also erected from PShchS-blocks. The upper part of the cellar must be insulated with EPS (Penoplex or Termit) to prevent freezing of the floor from the surface.
I came across a short video showing the installation of a cellar made of 4 concrete rings with a diameter of 2m. It is a pity that the author did not give details.
But it can be seen that segments were cut from the rings, which serve as the central structural elements. Thanks to this technique, the volume of the cellar has increased. Two covers are laid on top, and the central part of the floors will be monolithic. Segments must be fixed to metal elements (shown below). To cover up the seams (and it is better to embed in the formwork). And also waterproof the outside.
The cost of concrete rings. Taking into account 2 lids, it turns out the same 22 thousand. rub. The segments are mounted on a mortar with fixation with elements as in the third slide.
Another plus of such a cellar made of rings with cut-out segments is that you can pour a rotating concrete staircase. Agree, the option with such a staircase is more convenient than just a steep descent into a narrow opening.
