Mushrooms at their summer cottage. Is it so easy to grow them, as everyone writes and says
Far from always, each of us has the opportunity to pick up mushrooms in natural habitat, that is, in the forest. Often there is simply not enough time for this or the weather is unfavorable. But there is a very simple solution to solve the problem - mushrooms can be successfully grown on your site.
To grow porcini mushrooms, champignons or oyster mushrooms on your site, it is enough to purchase mycelium and place it in a favorable environment. But for successful cultivation, it is very important to comply with a number of conditions.
We grow champignons
The easiest way to grow champignons. They do not need sunlight, it is enough for them to provide coolness and humidity. A basement, cellar, or hut is suitable for this purpose.
You can also grow this type of mushroom under the shade of a fruit tree. But in this case, the surface is covered with a film that will provide protection against ultraviolet radiation and changes in humidity levels.
Champignons grow best in this substrate: 50 kg of manure (horse manure is better, but you can also use cow), 15 kg of vegetable waste (straw, dry grass, etc.), 12 kg of gypsum, 1.5 kg of urea, 12 kg lime.
All components are mixed, water is added and covered with a film. The substrate matures within three weeks. The sign of readiness is the absence of ammonia odor. After that, the substrate is distributed in boxes, bags or trenches. For the germination of mycelium, it is necessary to provide an air humidity of 50 to 55%.
The temperature should range from +18 to +20 C. After 2-3 weeks, when a white bloom appears, 3 cm of soil for greenhouses is poured upstairs. It is also important to maintain the moisture content of the substrate during this time.
Fruit bodies appear after a month and a half. The duration of fruiting under favorable conditions is from two to three months.
Features of planting porcini mushrooms
To grow boletus, it is necessary to have several young coniferous or deciduous trees on the site. I remove the top layer of soil around the tree.
You should get a circle with a diameter of 1.5 m and a depth of 30 cm. I spread a layer of peat (2 cm) on the surface, and evenly distribute the mycelium (1 pack per 1 tree). I cover the dug-up area with soil that I removed earlier and water it well.
I give up to 30 liters per tree. If the weather is favorable all the time, then the first harvest should appear in a year. The mycelium needs to be watered periodically.
The fruiting period can last 3-4 years. After that, I repeat the procedure for planting the mycelium. For the winter, the mycelium must be insulated with straw or spruce branches.
How to grow oyster mushroom
On my site, this mushroom settled on its own. The mycelium has grown on a tree stump (elm). But also this species is successfully grown in the substrate. For this purpose, it is convenient to use barley or wheat straw, corn stalks with cobs and other organic waste.
An important condition is the absence of mold and small fractions (up to 5 cm). For disinfection, I boil the substrate for 90-120 minutes, and then cool it down.
I add mycelium to a barely warm, moist (not wet) mixture and distribute it into bags. I tie the fabric and make small holes. Within two weeks, I provide a temperature regime from +18 to +22 C and humidity.
After that, I lower the temperature to 10-15 C and provide humidity. The harvest is just around the corner. There should be four waves of fruiting in total.
Successful cultivation of mushrooms on the site is possible. But for this it is necessary to provide favorable conditions.
