Soldering polypropylene pipes without fittings and soldering iron. Here's what happened
Continuing the topic of non-separable joints, consider how to solder polypropylene pipes without fittings even without a soldering iron, that is, welding. The experiment involves pipes with a diameter of 20, 25 and 32 mm. First, I solder the twentieth inside 25, and then I solder its second end to 32. I only use a gas burner to connect the pipes.
It is important that you can work with both hands, since pipes of different diameters need to be heated alternately.
First, I set the flame on the burner to almost minimal, so that the tongue does not melt too much the ends of the pipes and it turns out to guide and heat the inner part of the 25th pipe. Heating alternately different pipes for 3-5 seconds with rotation, after 40 seconds I simply press the thin pipe into a thicker one by at least 1 cm. Then I weld 25mm with 32mm in the same way.

The most difficult to weld the thinnest pipes, since it is easy to solder the inner diameter by pressing, which is unacceptable. Because of this, it is important to avoid overheating the pipe end with the burner.
After a few minutes, I cut out both cooled rations with scissors and look at their condition from the inside. As seen by picture 4, in the splicing of pipes 20 and 25 mm, the bore diameter slightly decreased, but I think this is not critical. The second soldering does not have this disadvantage and looks even neater.
In both cases, it turned out to drive the pipe into the pipe by about 1.5 cm, I have not tried it deeper yet.
And the most interesting thing is to analyze the quality of the welded joint for the solidity of the polypropylene structure. Looking at the joint cut in half, it is not difficult to see that its quality is very good. The pipe connection line is not visible at all, but only a metal vein on the pipe cut 25 is visible (it is for heating).
I have not tried it yet, but I think that pipes of a larger diameter, on occasion, will be able to connect like this.
It remains to rejoice at the excellent result and, on occasion, use new experience. This approach may be useful in the country or for creating temporary or seasonal water supply. It's all about the presence of a gas burner or other similar source of fire. For serious projects, of course, this is a risky method, but for simple ones it is what you need.
