Don't throw away hardened cement: how to use expired, petrified cement
If cement remains from the construction of a house, a bath, or another structure, and over time it hardens in a bag, then it loses its original properties. Its scope is limited.
The cement turns to stone. Some people feel sorry for throwing away the building material for which money was paid. Therefore, the question arises: "is it possible and where to use a cement stone?"
Cement hardens due to contact with moisture. It is not stored for a long time, so you should not buy it in reserve. But if you have any bags left, take all possible steps to store them. For example, you cannot store bags in the basement, under a canopy in the open air.
Wrap the bags in plastic. So he can maintain his qualities for about a year. By the way, when buying, you need to probe the bags in the corners so that there is no hardening.
If the cement has lain for half a year and is pressed in, caked in bags, then you can "cheer up" it in this way.
Put the unpacked bag on the edge and start swinging, rolling. Now flip over to the other edge and wiggle again. The cement will become crumbly. No need to knock and hit the bag. Just roll it on the ground.
Using old cement
Dried material can be applied where there will be no heavy loads. For example, when paving garden paths, for the construction of poles, small areas, architectural structures.
The first use is to break the pieces with a sledgehammer and mix with sand. Fill holes in the road near the house with this mixture.
After breaking the cement into small chips, use it to fill the foundation under the fence. Old cement can be added to fresh cement (proportions 50x50).
Break up the cement to the size of crushed stone (fraction up to 20mm.) And apply as an aggregate. You can use old cement for concreting fence posts or add it for laying paving slabs, screed, for curb stones, etc. For strength, some add liquid glass. But it is worth considering that with this additive the solution quickly solidifies.
