Half a year we made repairs in the apartment and did without designers and specialists
Our subscriber shared his history of repairs with us.
Recently my family and I moved into a new apartment. Before that, they had been doing repairs in it for six months. They managed on their own without designers and even workers. All materials were chosen by themselves. In general, our repairs can be called very budgetary, since we were limited in funds.
In the entire apartment, with the exception of the bathroom and the kitchen, we have laminate flooring. They chose the most budgetary one, if only it would fit in color and texture, but since we faced its styling for the first time, they did it wrong. They put it not with a ladder, as it should be according to technology, but just joint to joint, exactly. They decided not to remodel, as we plan to buy a better and more expensive laminate in five years.
In the room, ordinary white paper wallpaper was pasted, and only the children's corner was highlighted in blue. We chose the paper ones on the grounds that we have a small child and it is possible that he will draw on them, tear them off or come up with something else. Such wallpapers are not a pity, in the future, when the child grows up, we will re-glue them with more expensive and high-quality wallpaper. The ceiling is stretch, because they did not want to bother with gypsum plaster, moreover, the price came out cheaper.
In the corridor, non-woven wallpaper, durable, not cheap. They can be washed, which attracted me when choosing. The ceiling is suspended, also matte with built-in halogen lamps. Such bulbs give a lot of light, while the energy consumption is minimal.
Special attention was paid to the kitchen during the renovation. For me, this is my favorite place in the house and I spend a lot of time there, so comfort is important for me. Linoleum with a thickness of 3.5 mm was chosen as the flooring. As a result, the floor turned out to be quite warm. The pattern and texture of linoleum is very successful, made in the form of a stone and a little rough to the touch. Dirt hardly sticks to it, which is very important for the kitchen.
All the walls in the kitchen were painted with a slightly glossy water-based paint. Matte paint will not work for the kitchen, but glossy paint can be washed.
One wall, where the dining area is located, was covered with photo wallpaper. They did not take cheap paper ones, since the kitchen is a room with high humidity and they would very quickly begin to come off. We bought a textured non-woven photo-painting, 2m wide and 2.8m high.
It was quite difficult to glue it, because you need to correctly combine the pattern on the two halves of this wallpaper, to look to there was no overlap of one half on the other and so that eventually a small crack in the place joint. The result is very pleasing, they look gorgeous on the wall. A thin wall plinth was glued on the sides to create a painting effect. Six months later, on the empty walls on the sides of the picture, they decided to glue decorative plaster tiles "like a brick".
At the moment, only one half has been done, the second is in the process.
The tiles are glued very quickly and easily. This does not require any special glue and fixtures. We glue it to the wall with a finishing white putty. It is only important to immediately wipe the putty protruding beyond the brick, otherwise later, when it hardens, it will only have to be cut off, and this is not convenient.
