Insulated blind area. What could be easier than putting insulation on the sand? But there are subtleties here too.
Probably all the difficulties that arise during the construction of my house are connected with the fact that I want to do everything perfectly. In the end, it turns out that no one needs all these ideals.
Of course, this is not a reason to do the job anyhow, just an awareness of reality ...
So it turned out with insulation ...
I hoped to quickly spread the insulation around the house, and start waterproofing. But I spent a lot of time on the first pages.
The process is not complicated:
So that the insulation plates lay on the sand as tightly as possible, I first smoothed the surface.
✅ But no matter how diligently and thoroughly I did it, there were still places where the expanded polystyrene sagged.
Of course, you can kill a lot of time to get the perfect surface, but it just doesn't make sense.
- At first, the insulation is able to bend (albeit not much), while not losing its properties.
- Secondly, there will be a finishing layer on top that will press everything tightly. At the same time, it will align and make the final look.
After these conclusions, the work went much faster.
Despite the fact that the insulation has a "step" for the joints, I glued foam to each joint. So it turned out a solid, single "carpet", which will not disperse from external influences.
The only thing I had to press every few previous sheets. Otherwise, the foam glue, albeit a little, but lifted them at the joints, and an uneven surface was obtained.
And in a couple of minutes, under the stones, everything was seized and remained in this form.
At the same time, everything was done under a slight slope from the foundation, to drain water ...
Thus, in a couple of incomplete days, the insulation was ready, and the next stage followed - this is waterproofing.
