Fence posts for centuries without concreting: 3 ways + new
For an even and solid fence, it is important to place the posts correctly. Is it really necessary to concrete the pillars or are there other ways? What can be used to replace concrete, we will tell you later in the article.
Concreting is needed when you need to install a heavy, massive fence. Concreting is contraindicated if the supports are made of wood, highly loamy soil, high groundwater levels and if the soil is mobile.
Methods without concreting
If the ground on the site is stable, and you plan to put up a light fence, then these methods are quite suitable.
Use beech, oak, or softwood supports. You need to process the pillars in advance so that the fence stands for a long time.
A profile pipe is suitable for polycarbonate or a metal fence. Best of all pipes with a rectangular cross section. If you want to save money, then round pipes are also suitable.
Use a peg and rope to mark the perimeter of the fence.
1 way
Buzzing - dry concreting of supports. To do this, you need to dig holes (depth not less than 120 cm).
Then a form is made of roofing material or other material. The cylinder is lowered into the pit and the pillar is set on the level.
Fill the space with rubble with sand between the support and the roofing felt cylinder. Then water and tamp well.
2 way
Clogging. More time consuming work. You won't have to work alone. Only metal supports must be used. To begin with, they drill to get a small hole. Then the post is installed, and the support is hammered with a sledgehammer. It is important to control the strictly vertical line of the structure.
You can rent a tool: a portable pile driver (hydraulic pile driver).
3 way
Instead of concreting the pillars, screw in piles. The pros are obvious:
- Low cost of piles (you can do it yourself),
- Quick and easy installation (the pole can be screwed in in 20 minutes),
- Long service life,
- For any soil, except rocky,
- Withstand high loads,
- Poles can be installed even in winter.
Method 4 - new
There is a concrete substitute on sale. In just 3 minutes, a ready-made post without dust and dirt. You can work even in winter. The composition will protect the pillars from rotting, rust. Read more here: concrete substitute.
