My two clematis are always admirable. Here are 3 main points of departure, why
Fiery fireworks, fellow flower growers!
Do you want to grow a gorgeous clematis? I do not want to praise myself and my specimens, but mine regularly and very abundantly bloom every year. I will just tell you 3 actions that, in my opinion, help the liana to become covered with buds every year.
There are 2 clematis growing in my garden. Unfortunately, I can't remember the names of the varieties. When I bought them, I didn't really bother with names yet, and over the years it flew out of my head. My clematis have 2 conventional names - "white" and "lilac". Both are 4 years old.
Clematis is a very easy to grow and grateful flower. Basically, the main points of care are widely available. But when some people come to my site and admire the blooming clematis, they add with annoyance: "But it does not bloom at all" or "It does not bloom so thickly."
Although all care can be reduced to only 3 points. I will not write about the shelter, because I consider it not a departure, but a mandatory procedure for all clematis growing in regions with unpredictable winters.
Pruning clematis: the basis of the basics
One of my friends, who complained to me about the poor flowering of clematis, said that she hardly cuts it at all - only dead branches. And then it turned out: she is the owner of a plant blooming on young shoots. It is clear that without annual pruning, neither branches nor a massive set of buds should be expected on them.
All types of clematis are divided into 3 groups and each is cut in its own way:
- First group blooms on old shoots, so only the overgrown sick and dry are cut out from them. If the lashes are too long, they can be shortened. A prominent representative of such a group is "Knyazhik".
- Second group, so to speak, universal: it blooms both on old lashes and on new shoots. To make such a bush feel good, in the spring its tips are cut (25-30 cm), thereby stimulating branching. So flowering will occur on old shoots - in early summer, and on young growth - in late summer.
- Third group blooms only on young shoots. Therefore, without ceremony, they are cut off, leaving hemp 10-20 cm high.
Most of the large-flowered clematis hybrids in our gardens belong to the second group, although there are exceptions belonging to the third. If you, like me, do not know the exact variety, just watch how your plant blooms.
Features of clematis care - in pursuit of abundant flowering
Clematis is a garden plant with a large amount of green mass. Just look at the long, leafy whips! For proper care, it is worth concluding: the area of moisture evaporation is colossal!
therefore I water clematis regularly. Moreover, a large enough volume of water to moisten the entire root system: 20 liters in "average" weather, 30-40 liters in drought. Yes, you have to mess around with buckets. But isn't the result worth it?
And now the main thing is feeding. Without fertilization, not a single self-respecting clematis will stably, from year to year, delight visitors to the garden. Where did he get the strength from?
I do not know where the myth came from that clematis loves watering with milk. Every gardener who is in the slightest degree familiar with the minimum laws of plant growth understands: there is no food there. To see the result, it is better to look towards conservative and truly working dressings:
- In early spring, after leaf growth, - 20 g of urea per 10 liters (or any other nitrogen fertilizer) + humus.
- At the beginning of May - "Nitroammofoska", I just scatter it in the trunk circle before watering.
- One of the secrets of the abundant flowering of my clematis specifically is spraying the leaf with a solution of potassium monophosphate, when I notice the start of bud growth. Precisely, I see that there is a result from such foliar feeding, and significant. Try it, I'm sure, and your clematis will appreciate the treat.
- At the beginning of flowering and at the end of July - superphosphate and potassium salt (15 g each) Per 10 liters.
Do you like clematis and was the article interesting to you? Please put "Thumbs up" in response! Thank you. And for those who have poor geranium blooming, I advise you to check the conditions of detention on points: If the geranium has not bloomed in May, then it's time to ring the bells
