What are the disadvantages we have discovered over several years of operation of laminate floors
Laminate has been one of the most used floor coverings for many years. Prices for laminate flooring do not bite at all, everyone can choose laminated panels according to their wallet. Of course, the price will affect the quality of the material, but this applies to any materials in general.
We put laminate flooring in our apartment five years ago. I must say right away that we used material of the middle price category. For the entire apartment, we have chosen a 33rd class laminate flooring (class for rooms with high traffic). According to manufacturers, such panels are more resistant to wear from shoes and sand and frequent wet cleaning. We did not lay the laminate ourselves, we hired a master. Before that, the concrete floors were leveled, and in general, the entire laying technology was followed: first, on concrete was laid with a film (to protect the coating from moisture), then a special substrate, and then he laminate.
Visually, the result is, of course, excellent. Laminate floors look very aesthetically pleasing and neat! And it's nice to walk on this floor!
But, unfortunately, in the process of using the disadvantages surfaced:
- The most significant drawback is the laminate very quickly and strongly worn out under the computer chair on wheels! We did not expect this at all (and this was in class 33!). There are scuffs under the legs of the sofa, although we practically do not move it.
- Another, in my opinion, a serious drawback - in the children's bedroom, the laminate began to creak! (There, of course, the load is big - they jump and jump, but still ...)
- In care, the material is also capricious (this only applies to dark laminate). You can wash it without streaks only along the boards. I have a laminate across the rooms, and the furniture is arranged so that washing, moving not along, but across the room is completely inconvenient. This, of course, is not a very big problem, but it took me a long time to get used to it.
These are the not very pleasant impressions of using laminate flooring. Maybe we just didn't choose the right material? Have any of the readers faced similar problems?
