Today I glued a tape seal to the door strip so that the door does not bang hard when closing. The goal is exactly this, so I glued only on three sides, left it as it is from below. When the door is closed, there is a gap at the bottom for ventilation of the bathroom. However, if you need to perform complete insulation from noise or drafts, then you will have to glue from all sides.

For work I used a self-adhesive sealing tape (K-LIST or K profile) with three ribs without an air cushion, since the other tape in my case is too thick and would require reinstalling the door leaf and striker plate under the latch.

First, the door frame had to be thoroughly wiped with a rag. Although it did not look dirty, in fact the dust had accumulated decently and it would have remained on the tape, which would have simply disappeared in a couple of months.

The tape can be heated slightly to soften the adhesive. But this is also not necessary, but in cold weather it will greatly help to improve grip.

First of all, I glue the seal on the side of the strip free from the hinges, more precisely on the side of the decorative insert strip. At the tip on top with scissors I make a bevel at 45 degrees for a nice connection with a transverse piece.

I do not remove the paper from the tape immediately, but as I move down, as on photo 2. So the tape will not cling to anything and will not grab in the course of excess debris. Then I push the entire side from top to bottom again with a sliding motion.

I glue on top in the same way, only first I make a cut at 45 degrees and join with the first strip. The joint should turn out to be neat, approximately the same as on photo 3.

But the second tape should be glued vertically not to the sidewall of the protruding decorative strip, but to the loot itself. This is necessary so that the door leaf, when closed, presses it with its butt end, and does not tear it off. The correct position of the tape and the joint can be seen at photo 4.

Since I did not glue the tape from below, this is where the work ends. As a rule, this method of sealing does not require changing the position of the door leaf, since the tape is thin. In the case of thick tapes, this is indispensable. Door 60 cm wide, it took 5 running meters sealant. If I had glued the bottom, I would have bought 3 running meters of double belt.
