How I made the sagging shelves of the hanging case durable and reliable

There are nonwoven storage systems in almost every family. Their purpose is different. There are large soft zippered trunks for bed linen and pillows.

There are boxes in which it is convenient to put clothes or shoes.

And there are hanging trunks / racks in which you can put any textiles - clothes, towels, hats, and even boxes.

I needed such a wardrobe trunk with shelves when the renovation began in the apartment. It is very comfortable. It can be carried anywhere and suspended from the top loop on any horizontal bar (Velcro loop).

The distance between the shelves of the wardrobe trunk is large, and there are a lot of things. But the bottom of the shelves is thin, too soft cardboard is inserted between the two layers of fabric, and the shelves sag, even if you put a little things. It looks sloppy.

This storage option, of course, did not suit me very much. I had to think about how the shelves could be stiffened.

While doing repairs, we installed plastic panels. In the leftovers, I found a white strip that should be attached to the edge of the last panel. This bar is called the starting bar, although the edge of the last panel also closes with it.

The bar is flexible, strong, but at the same time it is quite easy to cut with a simple kitchen knife. It was her that I used to solve the problem. I didn't have to rip open the bottom of the shelves and insert additional cardboard there, as planned earlier. Everything turned out much easier.

I just cut off 6 identical parts (by the number of shelves) equal to the width of the wardrobe trunk (28cm) from the two-meter starting bar. These pieces are easily slipped onto the edge of each shelf. Due to the narrowed shape, the strap is ideally attached, pressed like a clothespin and helps to keep the shape of the entire case.

The material of the case is durable, it can withstand a lot of weight, so no other intervention was required. Now the wardrobe trunk with shelves has become quite functional.
