How to plant zucchini and pumpkin seeds correctly: with a sharp or blunt side, or maybe better on an edge?

I have never thought about this issue before, although I am a fairly experienced gardener.

I always sowed squash and pumpkin in open ground, and laid the seeds in the hole as it turned out, not paying the slightest attention to their location. As it turned out, this moment plays an important role.

Everyone has a good idea of what the seeds of squash and pumpkin look like. One side of the seed is sharp, and the other is dull.

So, on the sharp side of the seed, a root is hatching, and on the blunt side, a sprout.

So it is best to plant the seeds by gently pressing them into the soil with the sharp side. In this case, the plant takes root much earlier and, accordingly, will sprout earlier.

But, if you just put the seed in the soil, the squash or pumpkin will grow anyway, but a little later. To be sure that the plant will rise, it is necessary to provide it with constant watering.

It is best to cover the wells with plastic wrap or cut plastic bottles to keep the temperature from getting too low. The warmer the soil, the faster the seedlings will appear.

In addition, you should pay attention to the density of the soil. If the earth is loamy, then you need to sprinkle the seed very little, otherwise the plant may not even break through.

With light earth, the seed is covered with soil by 5-7 cm.

Some gardeners place seeds on the edge and claim that this method is much more effective.

To see firsthand how best to plant your seeds, it is best to try different ways of planting them.
