What made me buy an electric screwdriver powered by a 220 volt network

Earlier (at the beginning of this century), I was condescending to screwdrivers. I reasoned something like this: “I don't have to screw that many screws in one year. I can handle it with a screwdriver, and an electric drill will help with the extreme. " But now other times have come with new building materials and modern technologies for home renovation, requiring the massive use of fasteners with external threads.

They began to forget about the term "screw" (it is used only by representatives of the older generation), and they came up with all sorts of names (confirmatory, wood grouse), or they are adjusted under one definition, "self-tapping screw", without thinking why this non-drill is popularly called screwdriver. Although most manufacturers call this power tool a drill.

What prompted me to buy a screwdriver

I already had an electric drill. I tried to screw the screws into the oak doorframe with it. The result was disastrous. The drill tore off the heads of the screws. In addition, it is two-handed and heavy, so it was extremely inconvenient to work. I shared with a friend my impressions of the low strength of self-tapping screws, but he replied that it was in the tool. To screw in self-tapping screws, you need a screwdriver. I was a little skeptical about his words. But after a while, I had to practice with a cordless screwdriver.

I was very surprised by the convenience of working with it:

1. Keyless chuck.

2. Balancing.

3. Small tool mass.

4. Small longitudinal dimensions of the screwdriver.

5. No connection to an outlet during operation, which increased the range of action to infinity and convenience.

6. Efficiency during a power outage.

However, there was one nuance that plunged me into long thoughts. It is impossible to work with a discharged battery. No way. It was necessary to have two batteries that would work and recharge one at a time.

Which I chose, mobility or consistency

Since I am a conservative person, I decided to buy myself a mains-powered screwdriver. This was my only requirement. Two batteries are expensive, and one can stop working. Therefore, I bought the very first network, offered by a trader on the market, "Vityaz MZEP DE-500".

I was extremely happy with the purchase:

1. The screwdriver seemed comfortable and balanced (just a little bit forward).

2. Keyless chuck.

3. Drilling mode capability.

4. Ratchet force adjustment.

5. Button obedience.

6. The reverse lever is located near the start button.

7. Long cable (almost 2 meters).

8. Normal power is 500 watts.

9. The rpm range is from 0 to 750.

10. Low weight - 2.2 kg.

11. Jaw clamping range - from 0 to 10 mm.

However, later I realized that my "Vityaz" was not so ideal. It turned out that:

1. Cordless screwdrivers are more balanced due to the fact that the center of mass is shifted downward thanks to the battery attached to the bottom of the handle.

2. It turns out that screwdrivers can also have metal gearbox housings, of which I am an adherent.

After a few years of home use, the thread on the counter-screw that secures the chuck to the spindle broke. It was not possible to find a longer bolt with a left-hand thread, so we had to put the damaged element on Secundu glue.

And yet I was not disappointed with the purchase of the Vityaz MZEP DE-500 screwdriver.

In the kit for it, I bought bits of various lengths and configurations (hexagonal internal and external, pentahedral, flat, cruciform, etc.), flexible shaft and angle attachments for screwing at an angle.

The only thing I don't overuse is drilling. I make holes with a screwdriver only in ceramics and a small diameter in wood. I believe that drilling wears out a screwdriver a lot.
