How to open a wine bottle without a corkscrew? Construction trick!
Actually, I was not going to write about it, everything happened spontaneously after a cork unexpectedly appeared in the neck of a wine bottle, which is usually removed with a corkscrew. I decided not to follow the corkscrew standard, but to get out somehow differently, which is often the case for "specialists".
Since the topic of construction is not alien to me, my eyes settled on ordinary black self-tapping screws for wood, about 50 mm long. They helped to solve the problem not as usual.
The self-tapping screw could also be screwed into the cork by hand, but to speed things up, I used a screwdriver. It was decided to use not one, but two self-tapping screws, since one, most likely, would have escaped "with the meat." Such an experience seems to be recalled, but it is very old. I screwed them vertically at such a distance that the caps did not touch each other and they could be grabbed with pliers without any problems.
He screwed the screws, as it seemed, to the entire length of the cork, left one centimeter on top for gripping and the safety of the bottle itself, because it is new, and therefore filled with a Georgian red drink under the very top.
I wanted to, it was, the screwed-in self-tapping screws first turn a little to the side, at least 90 degrees, but it did not work, so I began to pull upwards by force. I noticed that the traffic jam actually started immediately, but very slowly. I did everything with small pauses in order to re-grab the screws with sliding pliers.
Slowly, the cork came out and at the end it remained to finally uncork the vessel without the help of tools, only with your hands.
I was surprised that the screws in the cork didn’t even move a little, didn’t loosen and didn’t start to break out, as happens if you use only one fastener. Due to the good density of the cork, there was no feeling at all that they were about to pop up. Everything was done without preparation or any strategic planning.
