What can you make a washer for a car with your own hands?

Many people choose to make their own windshield washer fluid at home because of the safety concerns associated with commercially available washer fluid. Most commercially sold types of windshield washer fluid contain methanol, which is not only toxic and potentially harmful to humans, but also harmful to the environment.

Method 1

Prepare a washer fluid mixture in warm weather. This mixture is intended for use in moderate temperatures and may need to be modified for use in cold weather.

Add distilled water to a large vessel until the container is almost full. Fill the rest of the jar with white vinegar. For a 5 liter bottle, just over 6 cups. Leave some room in the container to mix the water and vinegar.

Method 2

This mixture is best for higher temperatures as the window cleaner will not produce the same foul odor as vinegar.

Add distilled water to a large vessel until the container is almost full. Add window cleaner to water and stir well.

Method 3

People who live in areas with extreme weather conditions may not need to use washer fluid for warm weather all year round. Both vinegar and window cleaner will freeze in extreme cold and can damage your car's hoses and injectors.

Fortunately, warm weather mixes can be easily modified for cold weather conditions. The easiest way to change your warm weather blends to cold weather is to add alcohol. Because alcohol freezes at a much lower temperature than water, it can be more effective in colder weather.

Although rubbing alcohol is recommended, high-grade vodka can be used. Adding a glass of rubbing alcohol to your washer fluid in warm weather can prevent your mixture from freezing.

Add distilled water to a large vessel until the container is almost full. Fill the rest of the jar with white vinegar. Leave some room in the container to mix the water and vinegar. Add 1 glass of rubbing alcohol or vodka and stir well. Test the mixture by placing the liquid in the freezer overnight. If the mixture freezes, you may need to add more alcohol.

Method 4

If you are looking for a more versatile windshield fluid that can be used in any weather, try the following steps to prepare a mixture that will stay warm and warm the weather.

Mix water and dish soap. Add 5 liters of distilled water to a large vessel. Add a tablespoon of dish soap to the water and stir well. Be sure to use dish soap that does not leave streaks as it can affect the cleanliness of your windshield. Add a glass of ammonia to the mixture to clean your windshield and prevent freezing.

Method 5

Prepare an all-weather washer fluid mixture with alcohol.

Mix water and rubbing alcohol. Take 5 liters of distilled water. Add about 200 grams of alcohol to the water and stir well. Add castile soap. For this mixture, try using castile soap rather than dish soap. Castile soap contains more natural ingredients and may be safer for your car paint.

Always test your homemade mixture on your windshield before pouring fluid into your car's washer fluid reservoir to ensure it's effective. Apply a small amount of the mixture to a clean cloth and rub into your car windshield.
