Today, the choice of building materials for building a house is quite extensive, so it will not be difficult to find suppliers of quality goods at an affordable price on the territory of the peninsula. One can observe a big picture of the development of construction over the past few years. Many new construction organizations have appeared, including companies from Moscow, Krasnodar Territory and other regions, all are promoting their technologies and are developing quite rapidly. Everything new is in demand. Likewise, local construction companies are expanding their horizons and building various types of houses.

Let's take a look at some of them:

  • Houses made of vulture panels, many construction companies are engaged in the construction of this type of residential buildings. In warm climates, such houses characterize themselves quite well and are popular due to their low price.
  • Houses made of shell rock is about this material, all the information below, we will get acquainted with it in more detail.

  • Houses made of aerated concrete, used everywhere, is a relatively new material on the territory of Crimea, has earned a good reputation, it is easy to work with it, houses are built quickly and are very durable.
  • Wooden houses are not very popular on the peninsula, the price of a timber is such that to build a wooden house, only out of personal preference, impractical, because other properties of a wooden house in a very humid climate are simply lost here and construction takes much longer time.
  • A variety of prefabricated frame houses in the Crimea appear on different parts of the peninsula, many moving people prefer them, given the low cost of their construction. In terms of quality, it is still difficult to make any judgments, since this type of residential buildings is new and there is no data on how many years it will last and what difficulties it will have to face during exploitation.

Obviously, the choice of building materials today, for the construction of a new house on the territory of Crimea, is very large, as elsewhere, but it was not always so. So far, part of Russia on the mainland has been experimenting with various materials and construction technologies for decades. Local residents of Crimea preferred exclusively shell rock. This is not surprising - Shell rock or limestone, also acceptable and used names are shell rock, shell, has been and remains among local residents a priority building material for the construction of low-rise residential buildings. This priority is due to the large stock of this stone on the territory of the Crimea, and its extraction is also active, which gives a rather low price. An additional argument for the choice of shell rock is the architecture of the peninsula, which is a good example shows that buildings made with this building material stand for centuries and look worthy.

Currently, there is no need to build from what is, but it is reasonable to approach the choice of material for construction, so it is worth considering this material in detail. To highlight its advantages and disadvantages, objectively, without taking into account history, and conclude whether this is really the best material for construction in Crimea.

One of the most pronounced distinctive properties relative to other materials is its 100% environmental friendliness. As the name implies, shell rock is formed from fossilized, compressed for millennia, particles of sea shells, sand and minerals, which determines its beneficial properties, in particular, a high iodine content that protects against radiation impacts.

The positive qualities, thanks to which the advantage is given to the shell rock, also include: its porosity, a high noise insulation, low thermal conductivity, good adhesion, rather large size of shell stone blocks, as well as attractive, even special external view. All this gives a shell house to be strong, reliable, beautiful, warm in winter and cool in summer. Such premises are erected rather quickly, lend themselves easily to any type of decoration and serve for many years.

Considering all of the above, it is fair to pay attention to the disadvantages of such a building material. The most serious and important, affecting the amount of expenses when building a house from a shell, is its water permeability. Shellwood absorbs and retains moisture, which adversely affects the operation of the building in the future, therefore, the external finishing of such a house is required, and to maintain such dignity as appearance, facing tiles from this are used stone. The next drawback is geometry. A stone created by nature itself cannot be an ideal building material. Even the clearest calculation when cutting a stone into blocks does not exclude the possibility of making an error, which subsequently affects the evenness of the whole wall. Of course, this drawback can also be corrected, the main thing is to take into account this minus during construction and be careful during the installation process.

The shell rock has a very small bearing capacity, which makes it possible to erect extremely low-rise buildings. It is also worth considering such a clear disadvantage as the low holding strength of fasteners in order to reduce the possibility of colliding with such a disadvantage follows, initially choose a brand not from the cheapest, and in the future spend money on more reliable and expensive fasteners.

Definitely, throughout the peninsula, despite the many advantages of any material, the shell rock for a long time will rank first on the podium in terms of the number of homeowners who preferred this material. But what about other regions? Is the shell rock so good that it would be a good option to build such houses throughout Russia, for example, in cold Siberia. Of course, the houses will be very warm, just as reliable and strong, regardless of their location. But interesting is the fact that this material will require a more careful approach to finishing and insulation, while in the Crimea, you can do without insulation at all. Both external and internal decoration must be done so carefully that there is not the slightest possibility of getting, even a small amount of moisture. Since at low temperatures this will simply lead to the complete destruction of such a house. Accordingly, such work will become very expensive, not taking into account all the costs of the very supply of stone from Crimea. As for environmental friendliness, indeed, there are not so many competitors in this regard, on the mainland, except for wood, which does not have such strength, but here you need understand that brick, aerated concrete, despite the fact that they are materials of unnatural origin, do not bring any harm during the entire operation of houses of them.

Summing up, we can say about shell rock, as a material for building a house both on the Crimean peninsula and throughout Of the Russian Federation is that such a building material has all the required qualities for the construction of a good, strong, comfortable at home. But it is worth considering the reasonableness of the approach to this material if you do not live in the southern regions. Is it worth its environmental friendliness and aesthetics, all the money and effort spent?

It is also fair to say that even at the moment, shellfish is the most popular, most likely it will not last long. After all, the price of shell rock is not as low as it used to be. In general, if you compare all the costs of a house made of shell rock and aerated concrete, the benefit will be small.
