How to process currants from Aphids, if there are already berries. Safe folk methods, proven over the years
Aphids are small insects that prefer to suck the sap from the green part of plants. In particular, these pests love to feast on young shoots of currants, as a result of which the bush stops developing.
Sometimes situations arise when there are aphids on the bush, but it is impossible to process it with chemistry, because the berries begin to ripen. In such cases, I use safe folk remedies.
The connection of aphids with ants
Aphids give off droplets of a sweet liquid that ants love very much. In return, arthropods move aphids from place to place, provide protection, and also help with wintering.
For this reason, the fight should be carried out against both aphids and ants, because a new one will appear in the place of the destroyed pest in a few days.
Soda
A solution of this substance helps to get rid of the pest at any time. It is enough to dilute 75 g of soda in 10 liters of water, and treat the currant bush with this solution.
Such a product will create an environment that is extremely unpleasant for ants, and they will leave the treated area. Instead of regular soda, I often use soda ash. I also recommend adding a few drops of iodine.
Ammonia or ammonia
For 12 liters of water give 55 ml of ammonia. You can also add a little dish soap to keep it on the leaves for much longer.
All pests die within 3 days after treatment. The advantage of this method is the fact that the active ingredient contains nitrogen, which stimulates plant growth.
But re-processing should be done earlier than 15 days later, otherwise an excess of nitrogen will result. You can also pour the ammonia solution into small containers and place it under the bush. Vapors of the substance will repel pests.
Wood ash
For processing, not infusion is used, but dry ash. It is poured onto the leaves, as well as around the bush. In order for the aphid to completely disappear, you need to do at least 5 treatments.
Soap solution
It is best to use regular, odorless, dye-free laundry soap. The use of tar soap is also allowed. This tool contributes to a faster recovery of the bush.
It is enough to rub a piece of soap on a coarse grater, dissolve it in water and treat the plant with this solution.
The protective film that forms on the plant will make it difficult for the pests to move and prevent them from eating well.
Alcohol
A little liquid soap is added to vodka or moonshine, and the affected parts of the plant are treated with this mixture. This is especially true for the inside of the sheet.
Alternative options
You can also use herbal infusions to get rid of aphids. For this purpose, I take pharmacy chamomile, potato or tomato tops, celandine, marigolds, wormwood. I fill the green parts of the plants with water and leave for 2-3 days.
You can also use predatory insects to get rid of aphids. This is especially true for ladybug larvae. These insects are sold in specialized stores.
