Why zucchini ovaries rot, and how it can be avoided.

Good afternoon, dear readers of our channel! Today I would like to share with you an interesting method of combating the decay of zucchini ovaries, which one of the readers sent us:

Without questioning the effectiveness of chemical exposure, I want to share my own observations.

I have a completely different experience of dealing with ovary decay.

Look closely at the photo, the ovary does not rot entirely, but begins to rot from the place where the flower is attached to it.

The next stage will be the complete decay of the flower, and after it the zucchini.

It turns out a flower is a source of infection that penetrates into the ovary through the "umbilical cord" of the flower's attachment - in damp weather a dying flower is literally saturated with water, which turns into a black slurry. When the weather is dry and there is no dew at night, the flower withers, dries up and disappears, no infection occurs.

When I realized this, I began to try to counteract these processes.

Of course, when watering, water should not fall on flowers that have formed ovaries. However, this is of little help in rainy or dew conditions.

I began to try to get rid of flowers as early as possible forcibly.

As soon as we see that the flower has twisted the petals with a screw and is no longer blooming, we begin to try with our fingers, without exerting effort, to break off the flower. By acting regularly, day after day, you can capture the moment when the flower comes off effortlessly but with a slight click. Usually by this time he has not yet had enough water and has not begun to rot.

The resulting gray sore should be dry and if it is wet, then it should be dried. I can get away with rubbing with my finger, but you can also experiment with ash or blotting paper.

It is interesting that where I hurried and broke off the flower along with a part of the ovary, it also survives and then develops normally.

It turns out that you can apply both medical methods and surgery.
