What do I put around the Greenhouse so that the Ants do not start in it
Ants are a real scourge for the gardener and gardener, they are especially undesirable in a greenhouse where there is no ideal conditions for growth have been created only for plants, but also for these small, but very annoying pests.
They also perform some useful functions, but the acidity they bring is destruction sprouts of seedlings, aphid colonies, accompanying them, and other ant "charms" much overlap them benefit.
Therefore, in my greenhouse, I try to make sure that these pests do not start at all. And I usually do pretty well ...
To begin with, I always use preventive measures against ants and dig up the soil in the greenhouse, mixing it abundantly with ash. This natural remedy is akin to nitrogen fertilizers, in addition, it allows you to create reliable conditions so that ants do not start in the greenhouse.
But prevention is far from everything, and it is imperative to create a reliable barrier on their way to the greenhouse, where ant trails will most likely lead these harmful creatures, if not done.
What am I planting along the greenhouse, and sometimes in small "islands" inside it?
First of all, such a "hedge" includes:
· Wormwood, the bitter smell of this plant is an excellent "barrier" on the path of ants;
Rosemary;
Lemon balm;
Basil;
· Wild mint, which disorients ants and "does not let" them into the greenhouse.
Such plants are very easy to grow, they are mere trifles, and they protect the greenhouse from ants. very good, because with their smell they affect their nervous system, causing them anxiety and fear.
I personally think that it is better to let the garden pests have anxiety and fear than they will be for me for the fate of my plantings in the greenhouse!
People are not affected by such plants at all, and I do not apply chemicals either around the greenhouse or inside it, if the ants do "seep" through my hedge.
If the invasion has already occurred, then I scatter the ground cinnamon inside, and its smell miraculously drives out ants. I used soda with powdered sugar a couple of times, and it also works very well on pests inside the greenhouse.
And all sorts of "anteaters" and other chemistry, I do not use inside the greenhouse, it will be more expensive for myself.
In fact, there is no particular need for them, since my fence outside the greenhouse does an excellent job of its protective functions against ants. And we also use these plants!
