I took an ordinary bedside table and 24 handles! I show you what a stylish dresser I made for the house, while saving a lot of money

You are looking for, looking for original and stylish furniture in stores, but you come across either ordinary factory copies, or a bedside table at the price of an airplane wing. Do you know this situation? I am sure that YES!

Good afternoon dear friends!

So, in order not to spend fabulous money on the piece of furniture you need, you can try turn, for example, a simple, inexpensive cabinet with smooth surfaces into a very original element interior. To do this, you just need to "turn on" your imagination, spend a little of your time, a little money and use one clever design trick! Which is able to modify a standard piece of furniture: so much so that it will not be recognized.

In general, I will not walk along the bush, but I will present to your judgment step by step instructions for transforming an ordinary bedside table.

1.Materials and tools. By the way, this decor method is suitable for any furniture with doors. But I will tell you, as you already understood, using the example of an ordinary two-door pedestal with dimensions of 120x40x64 cm. So, to transform it you will need:

- standard bedside table;

- MDF sheet 6 mm thick;

- 24 furniture handles (I have combined two different models);

- 12 brass label holders;

- 4 furniture wheels;

- wood glue;

- melamine paint.

And from tools: jigsaw, sander (sandpaper), drill-screwdriver, roller, etc.

2.Marking and measuring the curbstone. Now comes the fun part! I suggest you create 12 false boxes with handles and label holders on the facade. So, for this you need to draw each cabinet door into 6 identical rectangles 59.5 cm wide and 10.5 cm high.

Remember to leave a small gap of 1-2mm to create the visual effect of real boxes.

3.Making and sticking false boxes. First, we cut the MDF sheet into 12 panels to fit the rectangles. It is advisable to grind their edges to give the blanks a more natural look.

Then we disconnect the doors from the cabinet and glue the previously cut panels on them. Try to glue it carefully so that the gaps are the same. Now set the doors aside until the glue is completely dry.

4.Preparing handles and installing rollers. The next task is to mark the location of the handles. They should be strictly one above the other vertically and on the same line horizontally. It will be better if you draw the outline of the attachment point with a pencil directly on the glued panel. And yes, I almost forgot: the holes with which the handles will be fixed, it is advisable to drill in advance. For this, use a drill with a diameter slightly smaller than the diameter of the mounting screws.

And to make the bedside table easier to move around the room, fix four furniture wheels from below. If you wish, you can even pick them up to match the handles, but this is not necessary. Since the color will not be visible from the height of human growth.

5.Coloring the curbstone. Now it is time to paint all external surfaces. And to make it lie smoother, the bedside table should first be processed with fine-grain sandpaper. And only then paint with a roller in two layers!

Then, when dry, the melamine paint forms a beautiful durable film.

6.The final stage. After the paint has dried, all you have to do is add the handles, label holders and screw the doors back into place! That's all, the previously unremarkable bedside table becomes a stylish element of the interior, supposedly having its own history of serving your family for many decades. Agree, such things look much more interesting!

I almost forgot! Please note that the presence of false panels makes the doors a little heavier. Therefore, as long as the space inside remains empty, an open bedside table can be a little unstable. In this connection, I recommend putting your things in it, and then the problem will disappear by itself.
