What happened to the metal tiles in my bath after eight years
I will write right away that the article is not anti-advertising for this metal roofing. Rather, she is asking a question. And if these lines are read by specialists or representatives of the manufacturer, I would like to receive comments from them.
The bathhouse was built at the end of 2011. (finished in 2012) Metal tile color: RAL6005 (moss green). Manufactured by a well-known Russian company with representative offices in every major city. Almost eternal roofing material. The sheets did not rust, the paint did not peel off - but it began to fade. I noticed this process several years ago. But now, from the height of a house under construction, this is noticeable even stronger:
Sunlight does not shine from the roof or the camera does not correctly transmit - the paint has faded. The corner on the ridge of the roof also faded. This is clearly visible against the background of a fence made of a profiled sheet - there is also the color RAL6005:
Although the fence is only three years old and it is too early to compare. It is possible that its color will begin to fade in five years. But for about these five years already, there is an unfinished neighbor's house, covered with a profiled sheet of this color:
And its roofing sheets didn't turn pale. Maybe then such a party came across to me? Or is it characteristic of metal tiles? Or have they started adding other pigments to the paint that better resist fading in the sun?
The roof of the house is through two sections. It also faded. I don't know what kind of material it is (not slate and not ondulin for sure). Something new at that time (2010-12). But initially the color was brown.
In general, the next conclusion: if you save, don't expect this material to be eternal. Although, the cheaper profiled sheet turns out to be more resistant to fading. But the type of roof from it is quite economy class.
Flexible tiles are a more durable material in terms of color saturation. Basalt chips are used there (pigment is added when the rock melts). And the warranty period for some lines is up to 50 years:
In the forest, green also looks good. It is especially good in winter when gloomy tones are all around. Yes, the soft roof system is more expensive, longer and more difficult to install. But the look is completely different and the color durability. Now, looking at the roof of the bath, I would choose this material.
