Lighting is capable of completely transforming the site in the dark, adding new colors and accents to it.
Perhaps one of the main principles in lighting on the site: more light is better than less. But in everything there should be a measure. When you turn on all street lighting, the site should look harmonious, without light spots, which are obtained from the imposition of light from different lighting sources.
So, the main types of landscape lighting:
- Security. He is on duty, creates the illusion of a person's presence on the site. It is usually located around the perimeter of the site, on the vehicle site and over buildings. It is logical to make this type of lighting autonomous and on light sensors that automatically turn on and off. It also combines functional lighting.
- Functional. The main task of this type of lighting is to ensure safe movement around the site at night. Therefore, it is installed at the entrance to the site, into the house, the passage to the bathhouse, gazebo or garage, on bridges and along paths, stairs are illuminated with it. For this type of lighting, motion sensors are often used. This type of lighting gives general diffused light, so the light sources are installed at a height.
- Architectural. This type of lighting is designed to illuminate the facades of the house, highlighting the unique architectural elements on the site.
- Decorative. This type of lighting focuses on the beautiful elements of your site: trees, shrubs, alpine hills, ponds. For these purposes, mobile lighting is often used, which can be rearranged with the growth of the plants.
- Festive. Bright lighting, which is installed at the entrance to the house, on terraces, on fir trees in the form of various garlands, curtains, and figures.

4. Posts and bollards. They are also a point type of lighting along paths or at a parking spot. They also have a decorative function.
5. Hanging garlands. Used for decorative or festive lighting.
6. LED lights. Most often, they run on solar batteries (and they can store energy even in cloudy weather). Their advantage is mobility, they can be rearranged to a convenient place according to your taste and tasks. Also, in addition to the light source, they also have a decorative function.
For many, the issue of landscape lighting is complex, and you don't even know how to get to it. But to understand the basic principles of lighting a suburban area is not so difficult! The main thing is to do everything gradually and are not afraid of experiments.
