"Bathing" Violets. How to do everything correctly and Maximally useful for the plant
The leaves of your favorite Saintpaulias are dusty, but you don't know how to wash them properly? I will share the secrets of how to carry out this procedure without harming the flower.
Despite all its beauty and grace, the violet requires special care. Its velvety leaves, combined with charming flowers, look very attractive, but only in conditions of regular hygiene.
But even with constant care, it still becomes necessary to bathe violets. Washing its leaves is not a particularly difficult process and is not at all detrimental to them.
Of course, you need to be extremely careful and properly adapt the plants after such a stressful procedure.
When to wash indoor violets?
The accumulated dust interferes with normal photosynthesis and respiration. Pests and diseases are easily spread on contaminated leaves.
Violet leaves cannot be wiped with a damp sponge or simply bathed in the shower. It is best to gently remove the dust layer with a soft brush.
It is advisable to carry out this procedure regularly, so you can constantly keep the leaves clean.
There are situations when the plant is so heavily polluted and neglected that simple dust removal cannot be done. In such cases, there is no choice but to redeem the violet.
It is advisable to do this at least once every 3 months. It is better to wash off the dust from the leaves once a month, but the plant will not benefit from constant stress.
How to bathe violets correctly?
Don't be afraid to bathe your violets, they tolerate this procedure quite easily. Leaves should be washed carefully; water should not be allowed to get into the center of the outlet, and even more so on the peduncles. The easiest way to cover the growth point and base of the leaves with your hand.
For more protection, you can:
1. Close the soil in a pots with a flower with a bag so that excess water does not get on it.
2. Blot the center of the outlet immediately after bathing with cotton pads or paper towels.
To wash the violets, I use running warm water, the temperature of which is slightly higher than room temperature. If there is only cold hard water in the tap, prepare two containers of diluted water for washing and rinsing in advance. The water temperature is very important in this case.
Cold and hot water is not suitable. You can use a shower head or wash the leaves under a low-pressure tap. Just hold slightly dusty leaves under a weak stream of water, wash heavily soiled leaves with your hands, if necessary with soap.
After bathing, violets should be in a shaded place without drafts until they dry completely.
