The story of an unusual pond or how I made a pit for frogs Part 3

In short: user FORUMHOUSE under the nickname domsvoimumom decided to create an artificial reservoir on his site, but the pond did not work - the pit was not filled with water. Our hero made an attempt to remedy the situation with the help of waterproofing and a larch picket fence. What happened to him - read on.

PVC and bottom: how it was

Then it was possible to lay a black PVC film. The thickness of the film to the touch is not less than 1 mm. Before laying, I decided to test the durability of the film. I tried to pull it with my hands, almost does not stretch. Then he threw a piece of film on the ground, threw stones on top and jumped on them. There are dents, but the film does not break. It also did not work to pierce it with a penknife on the weight, the knife bounced. Only the cut with the blade made the film surrender. I was pleased with the result, and Mukhyr and his comrades began to cut and glue.

Cutting is not tricky, but measuring a strip of the required length, taking into account the bottom relief, turned out to be difficult. The Mukhyrovites laid the film on the bottom, pressed it in the corners, measured and cut the excess. The film was 2 meters wide. To cover the entire reservoir, it was necessary to measure and cut at least 8 strips. Then this giant striped pattern had to be laid out on a flat surface and glued into one canvas. In a street with rain and dust, it was not easy to glue, and it took a whole day without interruption. To check the quality of the glue, I glued two pieces of film and left it overnight. In the morning I tried to break the seam. To no avail!

Sewn with white threads: about control and geotextile

To be honest, I was lucky with the workers. This was the best migrant workers brigade I have ever met! Having examined all the seams, I did not find a single hackneyed centimeter. The film fell to the bottom like a native. Geotextiles were laid on top. I also had to tinker with him and here I overlooked. The geotextile was in a roll with the same width of 2 meters. It was easier to lay it than the film, because the joints of the strips did not need to be glued, but sewn together.

They sewed with white nylon threads. I did not check them for rupture as usual, but in vain! After a couple of years of the life of the pond, the threads parted and, while swimming, rough rags were "grabbed" by the legs every now and then. But more on that later.

The beginning of the Venetian phase

A week after starting work, the bowl pie was ready. It was possible to proceed to the "Venetian" stage, but the delivery of larch round timber was too delayed. And here, at the bottom, a bubble began to grow under the film. The bubble squelched under my foot. Obviously, this was the same water that the frogs never received.

To remove the bubble, it was necessary to start pouring water into the bowl, and for this, larch was needed, which was lost somewhere. It smelled like a scandal with a contractor, but more on that in continuation.
