My wife chose a wall-hung toilet, but I insisted on a floor-standing one (all the disadvantages of hanging plumbing)
In our country, people are used to floor-standing toilets. When I was doing repairs and wanted to buy new plumbing, I was considering the floor version. My wife asked me to install a hinged one (more beautiful and easy to clean), but I insisted on the usual one.
Abroad, a wall-hung toilet can be found in almost every home. Why are they not so popular with us?
Personally, I doubt their reliability and durability. Although manufacturers say that wall-mounted toilets can withstand loads of up to 300 kg.
I don't rely on our plumbers either. Even if the floor-standing version staggers after installation, what can we say about installing a suspended one.
However, if you bet on the mind, then there will be no problems. Experienced plumbers say so. However, such an installation will last 10 years, and then there may be problems with changing the flexible liner. If you do not want problems, choose a rigid liner to the cistern of a hanging toilet.
Our usual option - a floor-standing toilet has a flush cistern, which is attached to the back of the plumbing bowl. The suspended version has an installation (a frame made of a profile), which has a flush cistern, bends, elbows, nozzles, etc. It consists of a hidden communication, neither the frame nor the tank is visible.
Everything is covered with plasterboard or other material. All risers, piping remain inside. If a leak or other problem occurs, then you will have to disassemble the box, the false panel and the installation itself. And this will be a pretty penny.
Moreover, think about the rubber bands in the installation itself. They dry out over time and need to be changed. Floats, membranes, filters require replacement over time. The cheapest wall-hung toilets without adapters. Inexperienced plumbers can use silicone in their work, while the apartment owners do not see anything.
In an ordinary toilet (floor-standing), if problems arise, you can change the same flexible eyeliner, rubber bands, etc. at any time. Everything is in the public domain. And in a wall-mounted toilet, even if you make a removable panel, it will still be difficult to get to the drain system.
Moreover, it is not easy to find plumbers who can install everything correctly. Although for an understanding specialist, this work will take 2-3 hours.
Of course, it is beautiful, it is convenient to clean the floor, the bowl itself. The suspended version saves space in the toilet. However, this does not justify the desire to buy and install it. Better to choose a corner toilet. Hinged plumbing has more disadvantages, in my opinion. Another disadvantage: the product includes everything you need for installation. But sometimes you have to buy a flexible hose, elbow, studs and teflon tape, and other parts.
It turns out that a wall-hung toilet is something newfangledbut not practical. It's my opinion. Please convince me otherwise if I am wrong in the comments. Thank you!
