We save furniture from a young age! Or 5 tips for removing stains from wood surfaces
Ever notice dark or light marks sometimes appear on wood furniture? Wet dishes, accidentally spilled water from a glass, traces of medications... and voila - a stain! Which spoils the appearance and is difficult to remove with cleaning agents. But don't be in a hurry to despair!
Good afternoon dear friends!
Since for sure at your home you will find something from simple tools that can easily help you in this situation. The main thing is to understand how you can use them, because each type of "fingerprint" has its own effective removal method. That is why I have prepared for you 5 simple tricks to remove these marks from wood furniture.
Well, let's get down to restoring the original appearance of your wooden furniture, or maybe the flooring (parquet) or a stylish decorative element?
1.Removing marks on waxed wood. If the water only damaged the finish, white marks will form on the surface. Removing them is easy enough, there are 2 methods. The first method is to wipe the stain with mineral oil with a soft cloth and leave it overnight (about 12 hours). During this time, it should completely disappear.
If it did not work out, then try the same operation with white alcohol. Once the stain is gone, it will be necessary to wipe the entire surface with solvent, as the treated areas will tarnish. And then a layer of wax must be applied to the wood again.
2.Whitening dark spots. Dark footprints make lacquered furniture unkempt and unaesthetic. So I suggest getting rid of them with bleach. First, apply it with a small brush directly onto the stain. Be patient, you will have to wait a few hours for the mark to fade. Remaining bleach will need to be thoroughly wiped off with a damp cloth.
Then apply white vinegar with a sponge to the treated area. This will help the wood to brighten even more. Wait until it dries and that's it. Then you can safely apply a layer of varnish to return the furniture to its former appearance.
3.Using a hair dryer. A fairly simple but effective way to remove moisture stains. You just need to switch the hair dryer to the maximum temperature and direct it to the marks left by the water. In a few minutes you will see them disappear.
But keep in mind: sometimes it will take about 30 minutes to completely remove it.
4.Application of petroleum jelly. Vaseline is another “product” that can help in getting rid of white stains left by water on the surface of wood products. You just need to apply it on the trail of a mug or a drop of spilled liquid and leave it overnight.
And in the morning just wipe it with a clean dry cloth. That's all!
5.Elimination with toothpaste. To remove stains, you need to use white toothpaste. Gel or multi-colored will not work. So, first apply the paste to the stain and rub a little, being careful not to go beyond the mark. Then gently wipe it off with a clean cloth or sponge.
If there are still traces, try mixing it with baking soda to improve the effectiveness of the paste. Then apply it again along the veins of the tree. But do not apply too much force, otherwise you will damage the surface!
