After painting. The surface of the wood absorbs moisture much less. The pigment will slightly stain your hands if you run it over the painted surface. A similar Finnish recipe for wood impregnation in a volume of 10L:

- rye flour (or wheat) - 720 gr.

- iron or copper sulfate - 1560 gr.

- table salt - 360 gr.

- dry lime pigment - 1560 gr.

- water - 9 liters.
