Flower garden according to all the rules: how we managed to make all the mistakes of beginners when planning a flower bed

In deep winter, planning to create a flower bed in our new dacha, I was looking for inspiration on the Internet. Having scrolled through the sea of ​​photos, I decided to choose an interesting option - a mixborder. This technique of landscape design involves the combination of a variety of plants on one fairly long flower garden.

Choice of colors

As conceived, a mixborder is a flower bed along a house or fence filled with perennial flowers, ornamental trees and shrubs. When creating it, it is important to select plants with different flowering periods so that the site does not look like a solid green mass.

To create a decorative composition, I chose unpretentious flowers, the cultivation of which is not difficult:

Zinnias;

· Celosi;

Dahlias;

Asters;

Petunias;

· Geranium;

Chrysanthemums;

· Marigolds.

And here I made my first mistake: the bulk faded from July to August. Low-growing petunias were unable to provide the brightness of colors in early summer, and chrysanthemums were too pale for the beginning of autumn.

Disembarkation procedure

To create a mixborder, you should choose plants with different stem heights. It is important to take into account the spreading of the crown during the flowering period.

My second mistake: I did not take into account that low-growing celosia among tall zinnias and dahlias will be invisible, and marigolds will fill the rose bushes. The flowerbed was supposed to be stepped, but since I left too little space for tall varieties, it turned out to be impenetrable thickets.

The vinaigrette

The third important rule for creating a flower garden: style and moderation. Before buying seeds of all known and unknown flowers, you should decide on the style of the flower bed and think over the color scheme.

Following the advice from the Internet, I tried to plant as many plants as possible. As a result, it turned out - a vinaigrette without a clear structure and idea.

My pride

On one of the sections of the flower garden, my thorny favorites grow - cacti. It turns out that in summer they feel great outdoors, bloom profusely and gain strength for winter.

Despite all my mistakes, the flower garden is my love and pride. It is a great pleasure to take care of flowering plants, and we will think over the correct arrangement and composition of the composition for the next year.
