How to save Cucumbers if the leaves of the plant turned yellow and the whips became Sluggish
Losing a harvest of cucumbers is something that every gardener absolutely does not want. The recipes for the blanks have already been saved, the jars and seasonings have been purchased, and the leaves of the cucumbers suddenly turn yellow and the whips wither?
Do not rush to get upset, you can save the cucumbers. It is enough to understand the problem and follow a few simple recommendations to fix it.
Why do cucumber leaves turn yellow, and whips wither
There may be several reasons why unpleasant changes occur with the plant.
The most likely ones are:
· Insufficient illumination. If the lowest leaves turn yellow and die off, to which the light does not reach, this is normal. It is enough just to pick off the dried leaves.
· Fungal diseases. If the tops of the cucumbers are covered with rusty spots, and then the leaves begin to turn yellow, the fungus is to blame. A characteristic sign of a fungal disease is that cucumber whips become lethargic, lifeless and do not react in any way to watering.
· Whitefly or spider mites. Insect pests also cause this problem.
· Sharp temperature drop. Fluctuations in air temperature, especially towards a colder temperature, can lead to yellowing of a large number of leaves.
How to save cucumbers when this problem occurs
After you have identified the cause of the problem, you need to immediately begin to deal with it.
The fight against fungal diseases can be carried out with biological preparations (one of the most popular and effective is trichodermin).
Also, folk remedies can come to the rescue. I recommend boiling onion husks in water at the rate of 40-60 g of husks per 10 liters of water and sprinkling the leaves with a solution (before use, dilute the resulting liquid in water in a ratio of 1: 3).
Insect pests can be eliminated using special tools. However, I strongly recommend that you carefully study the instructions for use and reviews for each drug so that pest control is effective and safe.
If the leaves have just started to turn yellow, a kefir solution (1 liter per 5 liters of water) can help. Sprinkle it on leaves and whips.
The problem is easier to prevent than to solve. Feed your cucumbers regularly and water them in a timely manner and abundantly. Do not plant them in the same spot every year if growing outdoors. Then the problem of yellowing leaves will bypass you in the next gardening season.
