Rough but common mistakes when laying laminate flooring with your own hands.
One of the main reasons why laminate flooring has gained such great popularity is ease of installation.
The opportunity to save money on the services of a specialist and try your hand attracts home craftsmen.
But the result that has been obtained is far from always pleasing for many years.
And all because during work mistakes are made, which sometimes lead to sad consequences.
In order not to get into a mess, below we will consider the types of the most common mistakes when laying laminate.
Mistake # 1: Installing laminate without using a backing.
The substrate performs several important functions at once, such as, compensator of small irregularities, svuko-, heat and sound insulation.
Therefore, if not used during installation, then when walking on the floor, the laminate will knock, and over time it will also start creak.
Mistake # 2: Laying laminate on an unprepared subfloor.
Laminate is a rather capricious material that requires careful preparation of the subfloor when laying it.
Poorly leveled, damp, dirty subfloor will inevitably lead to sad consequences during operation.
Even slight irregularities, dust and dirt, remaining under the cover will lead to the appearance of an unpleasant squeak and deformation of the locks.
And the moisture from the poorly dried screed will be absorbed into the laminate boards, and it swell.
Mistake # 3: Laying laminate flooring without gaps along the wall.
During operation, the laminate can change its volume under the influence of humidity and temperature.
therefore no expansion gaps along the wall may cause swelling of laminate boards, since when they expand, they will rest against the wall.
To avoid this during installation, it is imperative to leave a gap between the wall and the laminate about 1.5-2 cm.
Mistake # 4: Securing the laminate to the floor.
During installation can't fix the laminate to the floor no screws, no nails, no glue. Hard fixation will inevitably lead to deformation of the coating.
