Composting right in the Gardens

Compost is perhaps the most popular fertilizer; it is cheap and versatile for many crops. But its preparation, if you follow the "classic recipes", takes a lot of time and requires serious organizational issues, the application of forces.

But is everything so difficult? It turns out - no! It's just that not everyone knows the method of making compost in the beds. I got it from my grandfather and having tried it once, I decided to always use it!

As soon as some garden bed is vacant and if there are no plans to plant it with anything in the next 2-3 months, I dig a trench on it to a depth of 1 shovel bayonet.

Then I put organic matter into it, after crushing it with a shovel. Organics are:

· Tops of vegetable crops;

· Upper leaves of cabbage heads;

· Damaged, rotten roots, vegetables, fruits;

· Leaves of trees and shrubs;

· Cut grass.

I also want to clarify that something should not be put into compost in any case, these are:

· Tops from nightshade crops;

· Fruits with obvious signs of diseases, for example - late blight;

· Bark and branches of trees.

All components of the compost can be mixed together. In total, in the trench, they should occupy no more than 30-40 cm in height. And it is very desirable to alternate layers of 5-10 cm with a small amount of humus or fertile soil.

In order for the compost to ripen faster, theoretically, you can use special store-bought preparations. But in principle, it is not necessary to overpay! Because they can be successfully replaced by a yeast solution.

To prepare it you need:

· Dilute 100 g of pressed yeast in 10 liters of warm water;

· Add 0.5 cups of granulated sugar;

· Put the container in a warm place for 24 hours;

· Dilute the infusion with water in proportions 1: 3.

Ideally, each layer of compost should be spilled with this yeast "cocktail", but you can simply pour everything on top.

In order for the process of decomposition of organic matter to go actively, the bacteria acting in the compost need favorable conditions. To do this, cover the bed with a film or dense covering material.

It needs to be lifted every 2 weeks - the compost must be agitated for oxygen access.

In principle, using this method, I prepare compost not only on the vacated beds, but also on the still empty ones, when the garden has just been freed from the melted snow and has begun to warm up with the sun.
