September has arrived - the time to take care of the roses. The events that I hold every year help the flowers to grow stronger, winter well and bloom magnificently next year.

I carry out cardinal pruning of perennials. First of all, I remove the wilted inflorescences, they draw strength and nutrients from the plant.

I remove branches over 3 years old, light green unripe shoots and stems growing inside the bush. I cut off the remaining branches almost in half, leaving 5-7 buds. I make a cut over the kidney at an angle of 45˚.

The procedure directs the forces of the plant to ripening the remaining shoots, strengthening the roots, laying the rudiments of flower buds next year.

In the fall, I continue to weed and loosen the rose garden. Weeds not only suck out useful elements from the soil, but also interfere with ventilation.

Cold, high humidity and thickening of the plantings create favorable conditions for the development of fungal infections.

If the rose was sick with powdery mildew or spots in the summer, I spray the plant with a 1% solution of Bordeaux mixture.

In September, the flower needs phosphorus-potassium dressing. The elements accelerate the ripening of shoots, strengthen the root system and increase the winter hardiness of the plant.

Depending on the soil, growers use the following fertilizing options:

Potassium monophosphate - 15-20 g per 10 liters of water;

20 g of superphosphate and 15 g of potassium sulfate in a bucket of water;

· 25 g of superphosphate, 10 g of potassium sulfate in a bucket of water.

Several years ago, I learned about an interesting way to fertilize roses in the fall: a combination of root and foliar fertilization. For spraying on a leaf, I take 200 g of ash, fill it with a liter of water and leave it to infuse overnight.

In the morning I add 8 liters of water and immediately process the plant so that the rose does not get sunburn. Ash is not only potassium and phosphorus, organic matter contains calcium, manganese and boron.

Plus foliar feeding - nutrients are instantly absorbed.

At the root, I bring "Autumn Kemira". The granules dissolve slowly and the effect of the fertilizer is prolonged. In addition, I put well-rotted compost under the bushes, which not only serves as food for the plant, but also as an additional shelter for the winter.

Roses on my site develop beautifully and bloom magnificently. When properly pruned, they produce strong, strong shoots. Try my method of preparing plants for winter and all the neighbors in the country will envy your roses.
