Paving slabs and paving stones are usually used to create coverings for garden paths and sidewalks. 2 materials differ in shape and thickness. Paving stones are more durable, rectangular in shape. Its thickness is greater than paving slabs (this is the main difference). Paving stones are concrete, clinker, granite. Paving slabs are made from sand, cement and water.

Let's talk about how to properly lay out tiles or paving stones. You just can't spread it on the ground. You need to prepare the base and drainage. Most use sand for this. But this method is not particularly strong and thorough.

In order for the coating to serve for decades, not to fall apart in a year and not fall apart, experts use only granite screening.

Its plus is that grass does not germinate through such a base. For example, if you pour sand, put paving stones or tiles on it, then the weeds will grow in a year. The seeds fall on the sand between the paving stones and the grass sprouts at a rapid pace.

Why waste energy and nerves pouring boiling water, vinegar and salt on the weeds between the tiles or setting the weeds on fire with a burner all summer long?

There is only one right solution - small screenings. It is similar in grain size to sand and is well rammed.

Screening has less shrinkage than sand. Another advantage is that you can replace the crushed stone pillow with screenings.

No weeds will grow through the granite screening. In addition, its price is 10% lower than the cost of sand. Drainage properties are much better than sand. After precipitation, water will leave better.

The elimination will not be blown away by strong winds and will not wash away with rain. No weather conditions will allow the tiles to shrink after installation.

I even saw some people add a little weed germination powder to the screenings. But this is a moot point.

Screenings (from 10 cm thick) are poured into the prepared trench. Next comes the rammer. Then another 10 cm is poured. dropout and ramming goes on again. Paving slabs are laid out like on sand. The tile is laid out in front of you so as not to damage the aligned screenings.

It is recommended to put a mesh in the screenings. In this case, the tile will be even stronger. Fill the joints between the tiles with the same fine screenings.
