My favorite variety is Ogurtsov, which brought me 6-7 kg per bush in 2020. Will definitely plant it next season
There are several thousand varieties of cucumbers in the world and of course it is very correct to try something new. However, probably every gardener has favorite varieties that he will not exchange with any others! For me, this is Zyatek F1, about which I want to tell you something that may be interesting and useful to everyone who is not indifferent to cucumbers!
Bred by breeders of the Research Institute of Vegetable Growing in Protected Ground, this variety was included in the State Register in 2007. But judging by the numerous reviews - he "feels" well not only in greenhouse conditions, but also in the open field.
The first crop can be harvested in 42-48 days and pollinating insects are not required for plants of this variety for full fruiting.
At first, these are pickles up to 5 cm long, then gherkins up to 9 cm and finally - full-sized cucumbers 10-12 cm long and weighing 90-100 g. The skin of vegetables is thin, bright green with the lightest white stripes.
The crispy, fragrant pulp does not have a hint of bitterness even in the dry season! Zyatek F1 perfectly suits both fresh consumption and various canning.
This variety is rightly considered one of the most resistant to powdery mildew, but in order to avoid damage by downy mildew, it is better not to neglect preventive measures.
There are two ways to start growing Zyatek F1. Sowing seeds for seedlings at the end of April, it is imperative - in individual peat pots, because he does not tolerate picking well. Or sowing directly into the ground - in mid-May in greenhouses and towards the end of this month in open beds.
The variety can be planted quite tightly - if you adhere to the recommended distance of 40 cm between plants and rows, then 4 bushes will fit in 1 square meter.
Of the rules of care for the Zyatek F1 variety, the most important thing is regular, but superficial loosening of the soil and abundant watering.
But these cucumbers are undemanding to fertilizers. In principle, on fertile soil, you can do almost without them, making only 2 top dressing per season.
2 weeks after planting in the open ground of seeds or 10 days after planting seedlings, superphosphate and urea should be added - 60 g and 20 g, respectively, per 10 liters of water.
And at the beginning of fruiting - an infusion of green mass, for the preparation of which the barrel is filled with grass by 2/3, poured to the top with water, insisted for 2 weeks and diluted with clean water in proportions 1: 5.
