In the Moscow region, plots are being checked for the presence of hogweed - 86.6 million rubles of fines have already been issued

In the Moscow region, almost one hundred million rubles have been collected from the owners of the land plots on which the hogweed grows. Don't be on this list. Land inspectors of the Moscow region have reached the finish line - since spring they have been identifying plots whose owners have not yet eradicated hogweed.

Hogweed - plant problem

Sosnovsky's hogweed is a poisonous and aggressive plant included in the Black Book of Flora of Central Russia. It grows rapidly, captures natural ecosystems and is able to completely destroy them.

By 2020, the hogweed problem has become threatening: according to some estimates, it occupied almost 30% of agricultural land in Central Russia. Now the law obliges the owners of land plots to destroy the hogweed, otherwise they will have to pay a fine. Last year, hogweed was found at 2,300 sites, and inspectors examined more than 15,000 sites.

Verifications and fines

This summer, they managed to check 20.8 thousand hectares of agricultural land, and it turned out that there are hogweed foci on 6.2 thousand hectares. A real "outbreak of hogweed" is observed in the Ruzsky district, Bogorodsky and Domodedovo. More than 88.6 million rubles were collected from violators. The owners of Klin (25 million rubles), Yegoryevsk (19 million rubles) and Solnechnogorsk (14.4 million rubles) paid the most. Recall: the amount of the fine for citizens is from 2 to 5 thousand rubles.
