However, an increase in consumption is sometimes formed for no apparent reason, let's consider the most basic reasons for such an increase in costs.

Illiterate electrical connection
So, a very common reason for an increase in electricity consumption is the incorrect connection of the meter. Let's say you had an old metering device, and the time has come for its replacement. The service company replaced it successfully, and you notice that the power consumption has increased several times.
One of the reasons is the connection of the neutral wire from the meter to your apartment through the switchboard housing. Remember! The zero wire leaving the meter should go directly to your apartment, so no breaks should be allowed.
Neighbors steal your light
Another extremely common reason for unjustified cost overruns is the banal theft of electricity by negligent neighbors. If you have turned off all electrical appliances and turned off the light in your apartment, and the meter is still blowing electricity, then it is possible that you have connected to your network.
In order to find out this, you need to inspect the switchboard and all adjacent sockets in your apartment. If you find a "left" connection, call the representative of the power supply organization. Do not under any circumstances arrange lynching. Let the specialists do it.

Only a specialist with a special device will help to identify this type of malfunction, and it will only be possible to fix it by replacing the old / faulty wiring with a new one.
Eliminate the cause of excessive consumption of electricity
So, now let's look at the algorithm of actions with a strong excessive consumption of electricity:
- We turn off the electricity completely and check if the electricity meter is shaking. If not, everything is in order, and your consumption has simply increased (possibly seasonal or banal irrational use). If the counter shakes, then proceed to the next points.
- We check the connection diagram (on our own or with a specialist), if it is normal, we move on.
- We check the switchboard and all adjacent sockets for the "left" connection to your wiring. Found this out? We call specialists and write the necessary statements. Let the relevant authorities deal with freebie lovers. We do not arrange lynching. No left connections, let's move on.
