Before you bring flower crops into the room, you need to carry out a number of activities that will save your favorite plants until next season.

Key activities: general recommendations

  • Any annuals that you intend to keep until next season should be treated with any fungicide.
  • Plants cannot be immediately brought into a warm room; they must be held, for example, on a veranda or in a summer house.
  • Flowers must be treated with Epin, which will save the plants from the stress of sudden temperature changes (from cool to warm)
  • Annuals that look sick, with signs of infection, it is better not to leave for the winter. You need to select the strongest and healthiest plants.

Pelargonium

These flowers should be brought indoors when the daytime temperature is 15-16 degrees Celsius.

In September, you can graft pelargonium, young plants take root well at this time.

These flower crops hibernate in the light.

The most favorable temperature for wintering is not higher than + 12- + 15 degrees. Can be stored on a loggia, on a cool windowsill. There is no need to make top dressing in winter; water as the topsoil dries up.

Petunia

Petunia also does not tolerate frost, so you should bring it into the house before the cold weather. You need to let her bloom, shorten the shoots by two-thirds. The resulting cuttings can also be rooted. The range of favorable temperatures for petunias is + 12- + 15 degrees Celsius in the light. You can put the pots on a cool windowsill or loggia.

Fuchsia

It tolerates temperatures down to zero degrees. But she is unlikely to endure the frost. Leaves must be trimmed to lignified shoots before being transferred to the house. Fuchsia can overwinter in a basement where it should be dry. In the cut state, it does not require watering.
