The 2020 Shnobel Prize or which absurd studies have won awards

Hello dear guests and subscribers of my channel. Today I want to tell you about some of the unusual studies for which they were awarded the Shnobel Prize in 2020. So let's get started.

A little about the Shnobel Prize

Before announcing the happy winners of the award, I would like to say a few words about the award. So this prize has been awarded annually, since 1991, for research, which "first make you laugh, and then think." There are 10 nominations that change from year to year.

In this, of course, a special year, the awards were presented online and for which studies they received well-deserved awards:

Nomination Acoustics

The award in this nomination was received by a research group from the University of Vienna for the studies of the acoustic characteristics of the roar of Chinese alligators when breathing with ordinary air and mixture helium.

According to the results of the study, the scientists concluded that the acoustics of the roar indicated a direct relationship with the size of the animal. And it was also stated that their work would be useful in reconstructing the sounds emitted by archosaurs (the ancestor of the crocodile).

This research was awarded a cash prize of 10 trillion Zimbabwean dollars.

Peace Prize nomination

The Peace Prize was shared by the governments of two countries at once for the fact that they forced diplomats to ring each other's doorbells at night and run away without waiting for the door to open.

Physics nomination

The prize in physics was received by I. Maximov and A. Pototsky (both from Austria) for their experiments, as a result of which it was reliably established what happens to live earthworms during high-frequency vibration.

Scientists have found that during high-frequency processing, standing nonlinear waves can appear in the bodies of worms, which are similar to Faraday waves.

Nomination Economy

In the field of economics, the prize was awarded to Scottish scientists who conducted a study of how the level of economic stratification in different countries affects the frequency of romantic kissing.

Nomination Entomology

In this area, the award was given to the American scientist R. Vetter, who found out that many entomologists (scientists studying insects) are afraid of spiders, which in fact are not insects.

Nomination Medicine

The prize in the field of medicine was received by a research group from the Netherlands for the discovery of a new disease - misophonia. People who have this disorder are exposed to stress when they hear other people chew.

Nomination Science of Materials

The award in this area went to an international team of American and British scientists for research and experimental confirmation that a knife made from human feces is not capable of cut.
