Why is a country house better than an apartment in the center, or why is life far from the city so good?
How to move from city to country. Moving stories, what difficulties we had to face. On the pros and cons of suburban life.
When my husband came home from work and said that he had decided to buy a house, I laughed. We were "children of apartments" and all that we were able to do was stay with our grandmother in the village. But, as it turned out, the husband was determined. We lived in the center of Simferopol, and the choice fell on summer cottages in Lozovoy. A plot with a small house and ten acres of land quickly turned up. I figured out how much I would have to do there and my fuse was decreasing every minute. The spouse, on the contrary, ran around the site and said that: “We cannot find a better option. We must take ”. The man said - the man did.
On closer inspection, it became clear that repairs could not be avoided. True, by the word "renovation" I did not mean in any way a total reconstruction of almost the entire house, but it turned out that without it, nowhere.
But I was allowed to have some animals. The first step was a cat (to catch mice) and a dog (security is needed!).
And then the list began to grow. There were rabbits and laying hens. Since it's a private house, why not? Taking care of the animals turned out to be not as difficult as I imagined. They began to breed rabbits. They kept a little for themselves, and sold the rest for meat. The same thing happened with the eggs. The only problem was the hamsters, which turned out to be very difficult to poison. Therefore, they had to quickly build a fortified barn, into which they could not get through.
While my beloved was doing repairs, I was running and doing housework.
We moved to this house in the winter, and by the beginning of September we had already settled down quite well. The former owners loved to do something in the ground and planted fruits and berries, so in the summer we enjoyed the harvest of cherries, cherries, apples and raspberries. And closer to autumn, the quince began to sing. I'm not a fan of quince, but my husband eats it with pleasure. Large and ripe fruits have turned into an excellent jam for the winter.
And there was also a lot of mint growing here. We dried it and started adding it to tea. A small bush was enough for the two of us for six months.
We have chosen a house in a very good area. It's half an hour from the city, but there is a small forest and a lake nearby. Fresh air and evening walks - what else can you dream of when you live your whole life in a city with its eternal traffic jams and crowds. At the same time, 40 minutes and you got to work.
But the biggest advantages were: the constant availability of water (they love to turn it off in apartments and give it by the hour, and here it has its own well) and heating, which can be turned on at any time. Now you do not have to die because of the heat in early autumn, and freeze in early spring. Thanks to this, I will never trade a house for an apartment again.
Yes, a private house is a permanent job. If she is not, then the reason is that she was badly looked for. But all this pays off with the harvest and homemade products. For those who do not like to tinker in the ground or clean up after animals, there are also positive aspects. What could be better than going out in the evening to enjoy the weather and fresh air. And you also don’t have to go anywhere to fry kebabs. Your country house is a great opportunity to gather a huge number of guests or enjoy a secluded life.
