How to wake up the Sleeping buds of an Orchid and enjoy the gorgeous flowering of the plant. Proven method
Why is the orchid so loved by flower growers? Of course, for the magnificent flowering, which can become a decoration of any apartment. But before you can enjoy it, you need to get the orchid to bloom.
To this end, you need to wake up her sleeping kidneys. I share proven tips on how to do this as efficiently as possible.
Method for awakening dormant orchid buds
For orchids growing in the wild, the flowering season occurs at the same time as the rainy season. It is then that the dormant buds of the plant awaken to bring forth wonderful flowers.
Therefore, our task is to recreate the conditions for the orchid, close to those usual for it in the flowering season.
For this we need the following:
· We reduce the length of daylight hours. Move the pot with our flower to a more shaded place, but not to complete darkness.
· It is very useful to provide the orchid with temperature changes: during the day it should be about 25 degrees, and at night about 15-17. At the same time, it is important to ensure that the orchid does not stand in a draft and does not come into direct sunlight.
· Humidity should be increased - about 60%. This can be achieved as follows: we combine regular spraying of the orchid with placing it on a pallet covered with damp pebbles.
· We actively apply nitrogenous fertilizers - it is best to do this with every second watering of the plant.
If all the required conditions are met, but the orchid is still in no hurry to bloom, artificial stimulation of the buds can be applied.
This will require a tool such as cytokinin paste. At one time, it was this drug that helped me awaken dormant buds in my first orchid.
The paste is applied like this. With a disinfected instrument, gently pry off the upper scales on the sleeping kidney and remove it. Then, very carefully, we apply a small but sufficient amount of cytokinin paste to the kidney using a toothpick or needle.
It is worth very careful to ensure that the paste only hits the scales, without affecting the leaves and roots - this can seriously harm them.
After 10-14 days, a stepson or peduncle will be born. Two months later, it will be finally clear whether a baby will grow out of this scale.
Artificial stimulation of the bud does not harm the plant, it will only help you get gorgeous flowers faster.
