Screwdriver bit with automatic screw feed
Those who have worked with drywall know how long it takes to tighten hundreds of self-tapping screws to fasten the gypsum board. This is especially difficult to do on the ceiling: you need to support the sheet, hold the screwdriver and fix the self-tapping screw to tighten it.
I wrote about fixtures for fixing sheets on the ceiling in this article: How to screw drywall sheets to the ceiling alone
And how to simplify the process of tightening screws? Can you do this with one hand? Except as a variant of a magnetic bracelet for self-tapping screws on the hand - nothing comes to mind. It turns out that you can simplify the work even more - buy a nozzle for a screwdriver with an automatic screw feed:
The attachment for a drill or screwdriver is similar to the body of an office stapler, into which tape is fed with self-tapping screws inserted into them. There are many options for such attachments. But more often they are found in Western stores. Some examples from well-known brands:
Judging by the markings, the maximum length of the screws is 55 mm. The prices for some of them can be found here:
The MAKITA attachment is one of the most inexpensive branded products in this line.
Brands even sell ready-made kits. They are called gypsum cardboard screwdrivers or tape screwdrivers. As options: Cordless screwdriver DeWALT DCF620D2K, HILTI sd4500 (5000), Milwaukee 2866.
As an analogue of the products of well-known brands, inexpensive offers from unnamed Chinese manufacturers appear:
Dimensions and design of the Chinese nozzle:
Will fit most screwdrivers. There are adjustments that allow you to work with different lengths of screws. You need a long bit - it is included. Here from the seller you can purchase an additional silicone tape for self-tapping screws (additional clip). Probably, the tape is a consumable material that wears out quickly. Although, quickly changing the clip during operation is more convenient than stopping and refueling its screws.
But these are all photographs and theory. The best example is to see how this attachment works. It is convenient, and most importantly, is it quick to tighten the screws with it? An example in a short video:
Video review of the attachment here
It is clear from the video that the tool is working and speeds up the editing process. The only question is - what is the resource of the tape and the nozzle itself? There are no such reviews. If someone used such a nozzle - write in the comments, how many self-tapping screws the tape can withstand, have there been any breakdowns, or maybe the nozzle is difficult to adjust?
Or maybe the most optimal for installing drywall will be a magnetic bit with a circular self-tapping screw holder and a magnetic bracelet for self-tapping screws on your arm? Like these:
