Greetings to comrades Kulibins and homemade products. Today we are going to make a wooden bath stand. This is a useful thing for those who like to take a bath, while watching your favorite show and drinking delicious coffee. Of course, there are not so many connoisseurs of such a vacation today, since water is expensive today and there is not much time for such relaxation.

Let's get started. The photo below shows how the finished product looks like.

First of all, determine the size of the product for yourself. The dimensions depend on the design of your bathtub and your personal needs. I think that it makes no sense to paint here. After the dimensions are determined, we select the material for manufacturing.

A solid Teak or Cherry board is best suited for such a shelf, but if you do not have these types of wood, then use any other board.

We cut the board to size. That is, we make a tabletop and two persistent legs, then we start processing. The board should be sanded as smoothly as possible. If you have a sander, use 180 grit sandpaper for roughing and 220 grit for fine sanding.

This is an important preparation point on which the aesthetic appearance and service life of the product depends.

Next, on the front of the tabletop, we make shallow notches using a wood crown.

These recesses are needed for installing a glass, cup, glass and other container so that it is securely fixed and does not slide over the surface. Of course you don't have to, but I recommend it. The number of such grooves depends on your needs.

Better to make two on each side, two for candles and two for glasses or cups.

Further, along the edges of the tabletop, we make through holes for installing decorative handles. First, buy the handles themselves and only then make holes for them. This is understandable, but just in case, I will remind you))

Now we need to fix the racks on the back of the tabletop and for this we use self-tapping screws, which we screw "into the oblique" through the leg. If anyone does not understand the process, see the photo below.

We make holes in the legs using a Jig pocket. This is such a special device that allows you to drill holes for self-tapping screws with the desired angle at a given depth.

We install the legs on glue and only then fasten them with self-tapping screws. Glue is required, it is needed so that moisture does not get into the cut of the board, and for additional fastening.

We applied glue, attached the leg to the back of the tabletop and fix it with self-tapping screws as shown in the photo. It is clear that the self-tapping screws should not come out from the back of the countertop. I will not describe these moments, since this is the level of first-graders and every master knows about it.

After complete assembly of the countertop, you need to protect the wood from moisture. It is best to use a polyurethane-based wood varnish. We cover the tree in several layers, each layer is pre-dried before applying the next.

At the final stage, we fasten the decorative handles to the front of the tabletop.

Next, we fasten the holder for a mobile phone or tablet.

That's it, your bathroom shelf is ready. You can draw some warm water, add flavorings and enjoy.
