Gross but common mistakes when leveling the floor yourself.
Before laying any finish floor covering floor base should be aligned.
With small differences, most often used for these purposes self-leveling mixtures.
With their help it is enough quick and easy you can prepare the base of the floor on your own, without resorting to the help of specialists.
But the apparent simplicity sometimes plays a "cruel joke" with home craftsmen and when leveling the floor, they make mistakeswhich sometimes lead to peeling off the screed.
So that later you do not regret the time and money spent, it is better to know in advance what mistakes should not be made. They will be discussed below.
Mistake # 1: Leveling the floor alone.
Self-leveling floor leveling technology presupposes continuity process, as the mixture quickly loses its elasticity.
Therefore, when leveling the floor alone it's hard to do everything. While you are kneading the next portion of the mixture, the previous one already begins to set.
As a result, pouring a flat floor, especially with large volumes, will not work.
Mistake # 2: Poor subfloor preparation.
It is also a mistake to pour the floor on an unprepared base.
Screed with a high probability flake off or crackif the floor surface is not cleaned of dust and dirt.
Mistake # 3: Not using a primer before pouring.
An unprimed subfloor absorbs liquid from the mixture and the screed may crack or peel off.
therefore before pouring the base must be primed. This will improve grip and distribute the mixture evenly.
Mistake # 4: Mixing the mixture at high speeds.
When kneading at high speeds, the mixture is excessively saturated with oxygen and numerous bubbles form on the surface of the screed.
