Orchid dries up? The best way to help a plant that I have been using for a long time
By right, the orchid is considered the favorite of many flower growers. After all, her flowers are so beautiful and delicate that it is impossible to take your eyes off them.
But what to do if you began to notice that your pet does not please you with flowers, but, on the contrary, dries up. Do not give up. There is a way that an orchid can be reanimated.
I myself have done this many times and helped my friends who faced the same problem. Therefore, I think that you should also adopt this method.
First, you need to immediately assess the scale of the disaster. If most of the leaves have dried up, but the roots have survived, then that's good. The orchid is able to transfer the function of photosynthesis to the roots. That is why they put it in a transparent pot. After all, the roots are active participants in photosynthesis.
If the situation is the opposite, almost all the roots have dried up, and the leaves are still there, then this is also not so scary. The plant will draw strength from the leaves. It can give strength to new roots for growth.
Therefore, look, if an orchid has at least some healthy element, root or leaf, then this means that not all is lost. An urgent need to start resuscitation. If the plant has no signs of life, then the chances are likely to be zero.
Step-by-step instructions for resuscitating a plant
· First, carefully remove the orchid from the pot and free it from any soil residues.
· Inspect and feel each root. All dead roots must be removed with a sharp instrument. Such roots can be identified by clicking on them.
In this case, the velamin layer will come off and the heavy pieces will be exposed. The tool must be disinfected before work.
· The second step is soaking the plant in water. The water temperature should be 35 degrees. I usually add a few drops of a vitalizer to water (4 drops per 1 liter).
I soak the plant for exactly one hour. After the soaking procedure, you will see how some roots, which seemed dry, look alive, they change color.
After removing the plant, dry it for half an hour and inspect the roots again. If you see diseased roots again, get rid of them.
· Both the leaves and the stem are also examined. All affected areas must be removed, not forgetting to process the cut sites with activated carbon powder.
After that, I plant the dried orchid in a substrate disinfected with potassium permanganate.
