A rare cordless tool. Cordless disc shears
Cordless screwdrivers (even percussion), cordless rotary hammers and the same circular saws, grinders, power saws, trimmers - no one else will be surprised. The cordless tool will sooner or later appear in all categories of the tool and will significantly replace the mains and gasoline ones.
I suggest looking at the rare models of cordless tools:
Makita CP 100DZ cordless scissors
Designed for cutting cardboard, linoleum, carpet, leather, felt. The cutting principle is based on the rotation of a polygonal disc with straight segments. Each segment works like a scissor. And when such a disk rotates (300 rpm), a continuous process without vibrations (or reciprocating movements like scissors) is obtained. Cuts materials up to 6 mm thick. Self-sharpening disc. Weight approx. 1 kg without battery. Li-ion battery with a voltage of 10.8 V. Prices:
Of course, there is no point in purchasing these scissors for laying linoleum or carpet in your apartment during repairs. But for those who do this professionally and almost every day - it will speed up the process, save time and effort. It will also be like an assistant in shops selling linoleum and carpet or in small industries where leather goods are sewn.
In the leather industry, such shears are called "circular cutters". Basically, they operate on mains voltage. They look like this:
The design of the cordless tool was taken from such professional models. But back to the Makita battery model.A short video with an overview of these cordless shears:
Scissors on one charge can cut over 200 m of carpet.
This design of scissors is not only for this brand. Here are the models from Bosch:
Cordless scissors Bosch GUS 12V-300
Bosch GUS. Similar design and similar characteristics. Li-ion battery with a voltage of 10.8 V and a capacity of 2 A * h. But the revs are higher - 700 rpm of the hexagonal disc. There is a charge level indicator. Also a self-sharpening disc. One battery charge is enough for 200-300 m of the blade cut (depending on the thickness of the material). The cost is higher than the Makita model: from 8 to 14 thousand rub. If the price is up to 10 thousand. rub., then this is the solo equipment - without battery and charging.
Bosch had another similar model: Bosch Kseo
Built-in 3.6 V battery with a capacity of 1.3 A * h. Cutting thickness up to 6 mm. Weight 0.4 kg. But the model is discontinued. You can buy now only through ads. In 2013 the cost of such a new instrument was only 2000 rubles.
Probably due to low demand for such scissors (only needed by professionals), the model was removed from sale. If someone who is involved in installing flooring has a similar tool - write your comment.
