In autumn, a lot of attention should be paid to bulbous plants. After all, it is they who will delight us with the very first spring. Of course, there are a lot of bulbous plants, but I am best at growing tulips and daffodils.

Therefore, I want to share with you tips on how best to plant them in the fall, so that they will definitely come out in the spring.

When to plant tulips and daffodils?

I live in central Russia, so I am planting tulips and daffodils in the first half of October. Many regions with similar climates need to adhere to the same schedule.

If you live in an area with a more severe climate, then the procedure can be carried out in the second half of October. Consider the fact that these plants begin to root at a temperature of 10 degrees.

Before this period, I do not advise you to land. From high temperatures and high humidity, the decay process can begin. There is also a danger that the bulbs will become easy prey for insect pests and pathogens of dangerous diseases.

Also, if the bulbs are planted early, then many young shoots will appear, which will subsequently freeze and the plant will die.

Too delay with planting is also not worth it. The bulbs will not have time to take root and will freeze.

How to plant tulips and daffodils?

· Prepare the soil. In order for the flowers to be large, you need to fertilize the soil. It is necessary to use for this mineral and organic fertilizers.

I usually use wood ash at 200 grams per square meter. Also, flowers respond well to leafy humus or well-rotted manure. It will be enough for 2 buckets per square meter.

I also add nitrophosphate to the soil, 100 grams per square meter. Also, before planting, you need to pour a little sand into the holes.

· Prepare the bulbs. I must first soak them in a weak solution of potassium permanganate. This helps to disinfect the bulbs and reduce the risk of disease. And rotting will not be so dangerous for such bulbs.

· Plant the bulbs according to the planting plan. On average, I do the planting depth at 10 centimeters. But it all depends on what kind of large onion.

The depth should be approximately 3 times the diameter of the bulb. I also leave the distance between the bulbs by 10-15 centimeters.

Between the rows, you need to leave 20 centimeters. If the variety is large, then 25 centimeters.
